BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Cadet Rianni Tierno was taking part in an education excursion on board the USS Gainsborough when the ship was lost. Rianni was officially listed as MIA when she did not count among the survivors, but was found - alone - in the first of the lost escape pods to be recovered by the USS Attar during the SAR mission conducted alongside USS Valley Forge & Endeavour over a month later. Rianni was however found to be a total amnesiac state and over a year later has still failed to recover any prior memory, despite a variety of attempts both conventional and otherwise.
Since her recovery, Rianni has repeatedly displayed a unique tactical acumen as well as unrivaled combat prowess; earning her distinction among her classmates and recognition from many senior officers in and around the station. Her first year at the Academy Annex was concluded with a brief tour stationed on board the USS Attar where she continued extra curricular studies in basic command functionality and spent time studying the different departments with view to how a command officer utilizes their resources. This tour concluded with Rianni being reunited with her family - a surprise gathering organized by the Attar's counselling department - after learning of Rianni's uncertainty about reuniting with them.
In early 2418 - approximately 15 months after being recovered from the USS Gainsborough - Starfleet discovered that the Cadet was a clone created by the Junayd; purportedly with the intent of assessing Starfleet & the Federation ahead of potential first contact. Observer 93108 (as was her official Junayd designation) presented herself to Starfleet during the battle of DS13 which saw the Junayd interrupt Starfleet peace talks with the Azedi - under later claims that they arrived to save Starfleet from succumbing to similar undesirable tactics used by the Azedi against the Junayd. Following a lengthy joint investigation by Starfleet Command & Intelligence, Observer 93108 assisted Starfleet in establishing an opening dialogue with the Junayd, in exchange for remaining with Starfleet - with the exact capacity to be determined at a later date (and having divulged that the Junayd wished to terminate her as the observation assignment was complete). Upon the arrival of the Junayd envoy however, Observer 93108 was abruptly handed to the Junayd in spite of the agreement and pending asylum request where she was immediately executed.
Upon conclusion of the initial tentative talks between Starfleet and the Junayd, Cadet Tierno was returned to Starfleet, having been held in a form of stasis since her recovery from the Gainsborough loss by the Junayd some 15 months earlier. After being revived, Rianni was found to be suffering no ill-effects from her captivity, though evidence surfaced that she had been sustained in a form of neural link for the duration; the current working theory being that this was an allowance for Observer 93108 to maintain her identity. A (presumably) unintended side effect of this setup is that upon waking, Rianni possessed total memory recall of her doppelganger's time living her life. Longer lasting side effects of her stasis & captivity are yet to be determined through continued counselling, while the young woman strives to build her life anew with nothing but the memories of a pretender to work from.
After accepting a tactical posting to the USS Valley Forge ahead of what would become it's hallmark voyage, Rianni spent the following 3 years carving out an exemplary service record. This saw her graduate to (acting) Ensign a year ahead of schedule, and culminated in a promotion to LTJG following the climactic Battle of the Heart. In addition to finally learning to forge close personal bonds, Rianni worked closely alongside experts from allied species old and new as part of her relentless effort to prove herself apart from being the unfortunate victim of fate used by the Junayd. This included martial training with a Klingon Special Forces assassin, tactical ground assault training with the onboard MACO teams, and fighting alongside Captain Vix against the Horde perversion of the Olympian Aries - a conflict which earned her an honorary place in the Trill's esteemed Honor Guard of House Dronurr. Her training and expertise were put to use when the Valley Forge encountered a rogue vessel from the Terran Empire. It captured Captain Se'Lai and a small team including Rianni, and upon resolution of the incident Rianni was left in place of her Terran counterpart who served on the vessel. She remained there undercover for several weeks before returning to the Valley Forge.
A significant catalyst in Rianni's career advancement was her conduct during the capture of the Horde's advanced stealth frigate (later named 'Aethon' and assigned to joint Coalition forces). After the Valley Forge recovered the vessel, ENS Tierno was given command of it's bridge while the Valley Forge escorted it back to the sphere through a Junayd wormhole. The vessel was sabotaged by the Horde before capture however, and was ejected from the wormhole leaving Rianni with a skeleton crew of inexperienced junior staff and a lack of supplies in a dire situation far from allies likened to the initial commencement of USS Voyager's journey through the Delta Quadrant. After the successful recovery of the Aethon and bolstering of several new diplomatic and trade relations in the unexplored region in which they were deposited, Rianni went on to command several more missions for the Aethon within the Heart of War front lines.
In addition to her tactical and strategic advancement, Rianni developed what would become a key asset in the success of the Heart of War - the tactical CIC. Built from Rianni's own desire to better visualize larger fleet engagements without the distraction of the bridge tactical station, the concept was implemented with the aid of CDT T'Pia Se'Lai as an adaptation of the secondary bridge on the Valley Forge. The system - which allows a single officer to maintain a strategic overview of all vessels in range with realtime datafeeds fed into a live 3-dimensional holomap - later went on to be developed into a fully holographic tactical bridge alignment. Though only conceptualized on the holodeck due to the largely invasive infrastructure changes needed, at the time of the Battle of the Heart, the concept was set to be incorporated into the new generation of Coalition vessels being developed there.
