BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Idolized by many batarians, General Gahak's life is seen as the 'ideal success story.' Born into slavery with no recollection of family, Gahak was raised in a brutal environment in which one wrong move could end his life. He learned to tread carefully, developing his biotic powers in secret until he grew confident in his abilities. That day came when Gahak was in his teens, and in one bloody night the young slave murdered his masters and fled onto the streets of Khar'shan. He was eventually caught, wounding two soldiers in the process.
Instead of punishment or incarceration, the batarian military saw potential in the violent teenager. He was given a chance to use his talents and eagerly accepted, and after intense training, emerged as a shock trooper. He was also brainwashed into being loyal to the Hegemony, though he retained his distaste for slavery. Gahak's fighting prowess, tactical mind and utter ruthlessness made him a highly efficient soldier, while his ability to appease the leadership allowed him to quickly ascend through the ranks.
Despite his imposing physique and his often brutal nature, General Gahak understood the volatility of certain situations from his days as a slave and was capable of showing restraint if it meant benefits for him in the long run. This made him the ideal choice to handle the situation on Cybele. Leading a task force, he landed on and claimed the planet for the batarians while the Hegemony declared him rogue and thus unaffiliated with the batarian government.
Unable to receive reinforcements from the military aside from his initial task force, Gahak instead secretly received large batches of funding from the Hegemony, which he used to hire mercenaries and acquire supplies from the criminal underworld of the galaxy. With the Council stepping in to assist the Alliance, General Gahak faces his greatest challenge yet in trying to break the stalemate while managing the fragile peace between the various mercenary groups he had brought to Cybele.
