Dr. Amelia von Lauer is a biomechanical scientist and medical doctor. Her work focuses primarily on cybernetic technologies, including, in recent years, biotic implants and bio-amps. She performed research and development for Conatix Industries from 2155 to 2169 developing and testing biotic implants and made several key improvements to the L2 model. When Conatix shut down following the BAat program, von Lauer worked for the Systems Alliance to develop the L3 implants but criticized the model as a 'step backwards.'

When approached with Project Generation, von Lauer agreed to work for Cerberus on the condition that she be allowed to lead the project. Her nearly-unmatched experience with biotic implants made her the optimal choice and was allowed to take over the project from Dr. Akamatsu.
