Fiona@falconecoose is slowly sipping her whisky, as she glances down at her PADD on the table every so often, as the light reflected from her PADD reveals just how big the bags under her eyes are Alistair Nimitz@natthaan takes the seat across from Fiona. Mia@crystyll FX | The VF lounge is noticably busier than usual to those who frequent the place, more non-uniforms than usual Fiona@falconecoose looks up slightly as Nimitz sits down "Hey." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods to Fiona as he leans back in his seat "How's the day?" Mia@crystyll FX | VF once again cruises alongside the MA and Akagi, as such guests from all ships are taking the opportunity to visit one another Keri@hawkecosse#4702 enters the lounge and moves towards the table with Fi and Nimitz at it, as she lightly places her hand on Fi's shoulder before sitting and offering a nod to Nimitz Fiona@falconecoose "Oh you know...the fun that always comes along with the start of a new campaign, even when you are not deployed to the AO." smiles slightly to Keri as she sits down -- Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Between you and me, it's my professional opinion that we primarily use smaller ships in this fight, the Mac is just a big target for swamers." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 steps up to the table, "Hope I'm not interrupting anything?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan shakes his head "Not at all, would you like to join us?" Fiona@falconecoose: "But at the same time it has more firepower than about any other ship in the fleet,I feel like it is being wasted. Not at all." Keri@hawkecosse#4702 glances up at the new arrival as she sips her whisky Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I was just curious...if I'm not mistaken white shoulders in the new uniform means captain, yes?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan smirks to Fiona "All that firepower is no good if you can't hit the enemy." Fiona@falconecoose: "Aye it does, but at the same time with the amount of guns it has and it ability to split as well so hitting the target is normally not that much of a porblem." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods to the Professor "Yes, I am Alistair Nimitz, Captain of the USS Akagi, this is Captain Fiona Skye of the MacAlpine." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Pleasure to meet you. I am Miyata LaRouche, former professor at Starfleet Academy." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Pleased to meet you, what did you teach?" Keri@hawkecosse#4702: "A pleasure to meet you professor, I'm Lieutenant Commander Keri Verlin, Assistant Chief Science Officer on Deep Space 13." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 slowly lowers herself into the seat, "Modern history primarily." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Oh really? What year did you retire?" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Back in 63, when the Enterprise-D was launched." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "That was quite a memorable year." Keri@hawkecosse#4702: "I hadn't even been born yet then...." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Hmm.. actually that was the year I was born." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "A good year to be born in! In Romulan space I presume? Our people's relationship wasn't so good back in these days." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "I was born and rasied in Ki Baratan, until my military service in the Imperial Navy came to a rather... adrupt end." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 nods, "Ahh. Was this when you joined up with the Federation, if I might ask?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "I was accepted ino SFA back in 2390." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Which annex?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "San Francisco, I was on the Security track." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "San Francisco," she smiles. "It's a lovely city. Not quite Paris, but it's one of the most scenic cities on Earth." Mia@crystyll /Mischa/ strolls in, smiling softly at the sight of so many familiar faces amidst the crowded bar Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I loved taking a walk on the bay front, near the old fort on the opposite side of the academy. That was back when my legs were still young, of course," she chuckles. Fiona@falconecoose: "Debatable, will never been towns in Scotland." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "After I graduated I was assigned with Federation Security Headquaters in Washington DC, I had plenty of time to visit Paris and a number of other places around Terra." Mia@crystyll: "Tea; Prince of Wales, thank you... and don't give me that look, it's not /that/ frivolous!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Washington, that's a nice place, lots of archives and museums. But a little too rigid and bureaucratic." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "One of the finest places for a scholar of ancient history, though." Mia@crystyll takes a judgemental sip of her tea before offering a nod of acceptance to the Vulcan and turning the others' table Fiona@falconecoose glances up at Mischa as she approaches the table Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "Once upon a time, yes, it was, although these days most of the bureaucratic happenings are in Paris." Mia@crystyll: "Captains, Commander, I see I'm not the only one taking advantage of hospitalities on board at present" she smiles, sipping her tea, "I hope I'm not interrupting but I'm sure heard mention of ancient+ Mia@crystyll: +history and couldn't resist" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Oh yes, certainly. But the architecture still reflects-" she looks up at Mischa's arrival. Mia@crystyll totally approached the corner away from pushy npc's... Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Oh no, not interrupting at all, Commander...?" Mia@crystyll: "Leveson-Scott" she smiles, "A pleasure, ma'am" dipping her head in respectful greeting Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 dips her head in return, "Miyata LaRouche. A pleasure to meet you as well." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Are you the XO of this ship?" Mia@crystyll blinks in surprise at the name, "No ma'am, I am with Starfleet Intelligence. Just along for the ride on this occassion" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Ahh of course, purple stripes. Forgive my old eyes, I thought they were some shade of blue for a moment." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "So...you're all guests on this ship as well? Fiona@falconecoose: "Yeah, just poping over from the MacAlpine." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "I believe so." Mia@crystyll takes another sip of tea, "Well, do excuse me; it was not my intention to disrupt your evening. Good day all" she smiles to the group before turning to depart Mia@crystyll taps her combadge as she exits, growing inaudible as she moves away to all but those with acute hearing, "Leveson-Scott to Captain Se'Lai. Keelah, please tell me you are aware of who's currently sat+ Mia@crystyll: +in your lounge..." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You all came from Trill, or is there going to be some fleet meeting on board?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "The Akagi is currently stationed out of DS9 to fight the Hur'q." Fiona@falconecoose: "The MacAlpine hppens to be on the same route as the Valley Forge for this stretch." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Just visitors, then. Akagi...is she named after the Imperial Japanese carrier?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "My ship is the third Starfleet ship to carry the name, it's more so named for the actual Mountain in Japan." Keri@hawkecosse#4702 nods slightly as she sips her whisky "The MacAlpine is named after the HMS Empire MacAlpine, the first ever merchant aircraft carrier on Earth." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Of course. I was wondering as the carrier is known for its service to a...rather infamous regime. But nothing wrong with naming after a mountain!" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Well, the carrier Akagi was actually orginally built to be a Battleship, but due to the treaty that ended the First Terran World war, there was a limit imposed on the number of Battleships one Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: contry could have." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "So that was why it became a carrier...you're quite well versed in Terran history, Captain. I suppose it is your ship..." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Well, it still took me a few months to realize the irony in my command of the Akagi." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Oh?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "The battle of Midway, the Akagi was sunk by American Forces commanded by Admiral Nimitz." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "That was why the name sounded familiar! I presume it isn't your birth name?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "No, it wasn't, Nimitz became my nickname during my time in SFA, after I graduated, I had my name dchanged legally." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Thought a Terran name would help your career, or felt more connection to Earth than your own people?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Well.. when I first started my time, i still had my people's infamous xenophobia, the Human name helped me push that aside, and quite truthfully, I was a very different man afterwards, so I felt it Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: was time for a new name to reflect the new man I was." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 smiles, "I understand. Quite an accomplishment you've made, serving in Starfleet and having your own command." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Yes, I am quite proud of my work." Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Perhaps a little too proud depending on who you ask." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 nods, "As you should be. You said your ship is currently at DS9?" Mia@crystyll FX | A handful of cadets enter the far side of the lounge and take up the end of the bar. A distinctive bright red tunic and hovering drone amongst them Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "actually it's right there." *Points out the window to the Exeter class.* Mia@crystyll: "Alright, alright; a promise is a promise, non? One round of drinks for excellect class performance today!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 turns to glance out the window, "Ahh...the classic Constitution outline...how I've missed those days." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 looks back into the bar, having noticed the curious red tunic of the days she's talking about... Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "The Akagi is very much based after the traditional design, but she holds her own in a fight, the recent Tzenkethi conflect proved that many times over." Mia@crystyll orders said drinks for the class, "Curious why Capitaine Keelah called down during class to suggest we did this today, don't you think Rianni?" Mia@crystyll | Rianni shrugs, "You know the Captain better than me, Mia" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "The Constitution was always a tough design. A true exploration cruiser, not a workhorse like her Miranda cousins- built to seek out the final frontier, and withstand it when it has to!" Mia@crystyll chuckles, "But not as well as your friend Ms. Zee, we think!" she sighs softly, "Well, it is a nice idea anyway. Let us enjoy!" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "Indeed she is." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I wish Starfleet had more of those than some of the recent ships they've been designing..." she casts another curious glance in Mia's direction again, still haven't made out the face from afar but - Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 - intruiged by the uniform. "The Odyssey's a fine ship to carry on the tradition from what I know...haven't been following up with the latest specs." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "But some of these other designs, the Avengers and Promethius..." she shakes her head. Mia@crystyll turns with a quirked look towards Miadrone, "What do you mean? We never said anything about the Odyssey!" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "The Odyssey has it's useage, but truthfully, I wouldn't trade the Akagi for anything.. unless it's a chance to command my first command again." Fiona@falconecoose: "I actually command one of the newest designs, the MacAlpine is an Endeavour class. She is a grand ship, her class is going to push the frontier even further." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: Hahaha I confused Miadrone! Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Endeavour is one of the Odyssey variants, yes?" Mia@crystyll: "Or the Avenger, or Prometheus... or any other class! Do we need to get your sensors reconfigured little one?" Mia@crystyll | Miadrone beeps increasingly excitedly in response Mia@crystyll: "No we didn't!" Fiona@falconecoose: "Aye she is based on the orginal but with new and improved technology and equipment." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Kind of like the Exeter is to the Constitution then! I can see the appeal in both...I'm with Captain Nimitz myself, but that is likely just due to the nostalgia of my day..." Mia@crystyll | Rianni nudges Mia's arm and points towards the table, "I believe the conversation your drone shell is detecting emenates from that direction" Mia@crystyll turns and looks before rippling out of view, the drone whooshing across the room - almost blindsiding the Bajoran waitress from earlier as it moves Fiona@falconecoose: "Nothing wrong with the older ships, just even with refits they are starting to show their age." Mia@crystyll FX | Miadrone makes a beeline to the Professor, beeping away excitedly as it scans her Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Well, size wise the Constitution is quite some ways away from the latest-" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 looks up to the drone, "Can we help you, little one? Are you looking for somebody?" Mia@crystyll | Miadrone beeps away a convoluted response before Mia ripples back into view Mia@crystyll: "Mon dieu! It is really you- us, you...!" she exclaims, bouncing excitedly Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 widens her eyes as Mia appears. "Is that...my old training program?" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Excuse me for a moment." Mia@crystyll skips forward and wraps a hug around the prof's shoulders, "It is us! And you... you are you!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles and hugs Mia back, "Solid holoprojectors in the lounge? And they said the Galaxy was too luxurious..." Mia@crystyll: "Ohh, non non non; we are no longer holoprojected since finding freedom, we have evolved!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You have..." she looks to the drone, then back to Mia, "The drone is acting as a mobile emitter!' Mia@crystyll looks back with a smile, "The little one is home to our networked AI; we both reside within it's shell and project our avatar from there!" Mia@crystyll suddenly looks to the rest of the table, "Oh but please, we apologize for the rude interruption. It is just... well!" she looks back to the Prof, beaming Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You managed to network with a drone? That is amazing! But...I thought they put your program on ice." Mia@crystyll: "Oui they did! But some of the officers on DS13 rediscovered it and found us!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "That explains why you're here!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 looks back to Nimitz, "Welcome back, Captain. Allow me to introduce you to...me." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 looks to Mia, "Do you go by the same name?" Mia@crystyll nods eagerly as she takes the recently vacated seat, giggling at the introduction Mia@crystyll: "But of course! We are still Mia!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles, "Well...not too confusing for the legal records, people coincidentally have the same names all the time after all." Mia@crystyll smiles, "Oh Capitaine Nimitz, we do hope you can forgive the intrusion!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "It's not every day you run into yourself after all!" she doesn't know about the Nimitz clone of course! Alistair Nimitz@natthaan shakes his head "Oh, dont worry, I don't mind it at all." Mia@crystyll: "We were curious why Capitaine Keelah suggested we come here now, but now we know why!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I honestly had no idea the program still existed. I was looking for you for a time, but I couldn't find anything in the archives I searched." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Were you...sentient the whole time?" Mia@crystyll: "Awww, we suspect many records were lost or damaged during the Iconian assault on Sol" Mia@crystyll: "As for our sentience; it is... difficult to pinpoint an exact time, but best estimates suggest it evolved after extended periods of running your old programme" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Oh the amount of paperwork they'd hit me with now if I was still working at the academy..." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles, "But I hope the experience wasn't too unsettling? You seem to have adjusted well for yourself." Mia@crystyll giggles, "Oh non, we had many many years to adjust to self awareness prior to finding a way out of the holodeck!" Mia@crystyll: "The last year or so since then has been too exciting to be unsettling!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You were stuck in the holodeck for years? You poor thing! If only I managed to find you earlier..." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I imagine even the various programs in the holodeck must get dull after spending all your time in them..." Mia@crystyll: "We did first transfer out of the training programme into an open adventure set on board the Lexington. That was very fun, and we still return for more adventures with Ms. Ann and Ms. Lennie now!" Mia@crystyll: "But we never really saw many other programmes due to the isolation of our own matrix. Though we did get to explore by occassionally peeking through station sensors at the ships and stars nearby!" Mia@crystyll doubletakes at Nimitz, "...just innocent peeking at public things, never anything restricted of course..." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "The Lexington program...I remember spending many hours in that myself. It's very true to the historical details of the old days, and the spirit!" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "Of course." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles at Mia's comment. Mia@crystyll: "Oh isn't it a fun adventure! But no less than walking in the real world has been, mind!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I imagine it must be quite the experience for you." Mia@crystyll: "Oui! And then some! We started as a projected softlight hologram, but our evolution through hardlight into complete physical form has been extremely rapid!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Wow...did you and the drone do all this yourself?" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Wow...did you and the drone do all this yourself?" Mia@crystyll shakes her head, "Far from it, many of our friends have helped us along the way!" Mia@crystyll: "Though we do work continuously to refine the experience in adjustments to our coding and firmware. Gaining full sensory perception has been quite the experience!" Mia@crystyll flushes slightly with the recollection Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 smiles, "It's good to see that you're making friends here." Mia@crystyll smiles and nods, "There are many many good people here. It is why we chose to remain and join this crew; so we can work to repay their kindness by helping others!" Mia@crystyll indicates the cadet class in the corner Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You've been teaching as well?" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles, "You're taking after me...magnifique!" Mia@crystyll beams, "We have! Capitaine Keelah felt it was a good way for us to ease ourselves in to modern existence, given our background in academy training" Mia@crystyll: "But we help elsewhere too, and have started going on away mission sometimes even!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "That's wonderful. You might've been programmed to teach at first, but you're free to choose your own path now," she smiles. Mia@crystyll glances to her students, "Of course, but it is oh so rewarding to see them enjoy learning!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 nods, "I remember the feeling all too well myself." Mia@crystyll: "We have also reinstated our duties as you performed them when serving on the Derbyshire though too!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Still do drop by for the occasional guest appearance, though I'm a little too frail now to handle an entire lecture session on my own." Mia@crystyll: "Aww, but you are still out exploring the galaxy. This is wonderful!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You're working as a yeoman as well? Or...what was the modern equivalent again..." Mia@crystyll: "We perform similar duties, though Yeoman do not really serve as big a purpose on modern ships with their more advanced computers, we still aid the Capitaine in similar fashions" Mia@crystyll beams, "She has designated us as 'Executive Assistant'!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 smiles, "That is wonderful to hear!" Mia@crystyll: **Executive Admininstration Assistant Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "I have a Yeoman... he's an exocomp though.." Mia@crystyll: "Well technically Capitaine, so are we..." she chuckles Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Well, he doesn't have one of you living with him... that I know of anyway.." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "With how advanced newer ships are, I can understand why it takes an exocomp to handle the yeoman position..." Mia@crystyll giggles, "Starfleet exocomps are not fully evolved AI's in general, nor would they be capable of networking with another such as ours" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I'll have to get up to date with modern holo and computer technology again..." Mia@crystyll: "We believe the role is somewhat to give us a work focus in times when we do not have students to teach. Since they are not always on board" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "But first I'm afraid I must get some rest." Mia@crystyll: "Oooh, we can help! And could show you about how our technology works!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 chuckles, "Learning from myself...that's something I could get used to." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "I'm sure you'll be a splendid teacher." Mia@crystyll: "We did learn from the best!" she smiles Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 smiles back as she finishes her water and stands back up, taking her cane with her. "Thank you. I'll have my subspace frequencies on hand when I find you the next time, so you can contact me when - Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 - ever you like. It's been a pleasure to see you again. And see myself young again..." she chuckles. Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods to the Professor "It was an honor to meet you, if you ever want, I will be more then happy to give you a tour of the Akagi." Mia@crystyll stands as well, "Oh, let us help you back to your quarters!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "A modern Constitution...how can I turn that down? I'll be sure to stay in touch, Captain." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "Oh, thank you!" Alistair Nimitz@natthaan bows his head to the Professor "Until Next time." Mia@crystyll smiles to Nimitz as she takes the prof.'s arm, "You are too kind, mon Capitaine. Farewell!" Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570 nods back, "Until next time." Professor LaRouche@annpc#5570: "You wouldn't happen to be able to extend the little one's levitation to me, would you?" she asks jokingly as they walk off. Mia@crystyll: "It's funny you mention that..." Mia@crystyll: ---END SCENE--- \\

Captain's Log | CAPT K. Se'Lai | Stardate 94534.3
Supplemental; whilst our business on Trill was swift and uneventful, the opposite must be said for our journey home afterwards. As has become something of a tradition when passing through friendly patrol routes, we formed up alongside the MacAlpine and Akagi allowing guests to move between the three vessels for a spell.
Among our own guests who boarded from Trill (one of many seeking the comfort of the deep Beta quadrant in this present climate) was none other than the retired Professor LaRouche - formerly of Starfleet Academy and the woman responsible for the initial creation of Mia. Of course, this did not come to anyone's attention at first, not until one of our other guests - Commander Leveson-Scott - happened across the Professor in the officers lounge enjoying a conversation with Captain's Nimitz and Skye. I am thankful that Mischa immediately brought the Professor's presence to my personal attention that I could co-ordinate accordingly with Mia.
Knowing her feelings from previous conversations, I opted to simply contact Mia and suggest that her current cadet class may enjoy a rewarding refreshment in the lounge upon completion of the day's lecture. As predicted, this led to the inevitable meeting between Mia and the Professor - which I have on good authority went extremely well and has opened a dialogue between the pair. Moving forwards, I believe this represents a significant step forward in her personal growth and psychological development.
