Sam@drcrippler Sam stands as the new arrivals walk in Sam@drcrippler: "Welcome," Sam says with a smile Keliaya@anncarise enters ready for an away mission in her jumpsuit, complete with all her field engineering tools strapped on. Lendaria@crystyll steps off the turbolift, looking around with a smile, "Aah, it is good t'be on a bridge again! Heya Cap'n, reportin' f'duty" Sam@drcrippler: "Please, come into my ready room! We're not too far away now." Keliaya@anncarise nods and follows Sam. Sam@drcrippler: "Please, take a seat," Sam guestures to the sofa. "Drinks anyone?" Keliaya@anncarise: "I'll take a cup of spice tea." Lendaria@crystyll: "Right, non alcoholic on duty... errm, I could take a strawbarry shake!" Lendaria@crystyll: "Thanks Cap'n!" she smiles, though it fades when she spies the whiskey until she shrugs it off and enjoys a slurp Keliaya@anncarise smiles as well, "Thank you." Keliaya@anncarise blows on the drink for a moment before taking a small sip. Sam@drcrippler Sam goes to sit down, drinking his whisky Sam@drcrippler: "I called you up just so we could have some quick introductions. I realise we haven't formally met yet." Lendaria@crystyll: "Always good t'know who ya runnin' with before ya hit th'ground. Lieutenant Lendaria; exobiology an' xenolinguistics. But folks just call me Lennie" she smiles, with a slurp of her shake Keliaya@anncarise: "Lieutenant Keliaya, engineering chief. We met on the Valley Forge...kind of. Just Kelly is good if it's simpler to say." Sam@drcrippler: Sam smiles warmly, and then introduces himself. "Dr Samuel Bishop, Captain of this fine vessel, the Endeavour. I trust you both know the nature of our mission today?" Lendaria@crystyll nods, "Boss said ya headin' out t'that ancient archive in th'Doza sector. Tha' one Cap'n Lizard thought was sentient, right?" Keliaya@anncarise: "I was told we were going back to that archive. Well...I'm going back, I don't think either of you have been there yet?" Lendaria@crystyll turns to Kelly, shaking her head, "Nah hun, s'why I'm so excited t'be along now. Heard 'bout tha' place an' can't wait t'see it!" Keliaya@anncarise: "It's certainly not like any ruin I've seen before. Still in pretty good shape, all things considered!" Sam@drcrippler Nods at both. "Yes, we're investigating the archive, mainly to see if it has anything on 2492, but also to see what there is." Sam@drcrippler: "Should be a simple, straightforward mission." Sam smiles, almost ironically. "Any questions?" Lendaria@crystyll: "Is it true it's like... an inside out planet or somethin'?" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "That's pretty much what it looks like! Quite a marvel of engineering." Sam@drcrippler: <C> Captain Bishop. We are approaching the archives. Lendaria@crystyll: "Can only hope th'research team posted here made a good head start f'us" Sam@drcrippler Sam looks up at his two team mates. "Well, if you're all ready, let's head down there!" Sam drains his whisky Lendaria@crystyll slurps down as much of her shake as possible, wincing and putting a hand to her forehead with brainfreeze before standing up Keliaya@anncarise: "I've got everything I need," she finishes her tea. "You mind if I beam down a few pattern enhancers with us?" Lendaria@crystyll grumbles, "These... should not be rushed!" she chuckles, returning it to the replicator Sam@drcrippler Before Sam goes, he walks to his desk to grab his cane. "No, feel free to take anything you need!" Sam@drcrippler: "After what happened on the Valley Forge, I'm going to play it safe this time!" he chuckles Lendaria@crystyll quirks a brow, looking briefly to Kelly at the comment but soon turning and following out Keliaya@anncarise: "I could build a brace...still got the replicator schematics for the one I made for Captain Lazard." Sam@drcrippler: "Ah, no, it's fine, just a phantom pain is all! Besides, braces are no fun!" Sam swings his cane around happily Lendaria@crystyll chuckles Keliaya@anncarise smirks, "I suppose this does give quite a classy look..." Sam@drcrippler Sam whistles as he walks Lendaria@crystyll: "Classy...? Was thinking I could add one t'my blade dancin'!" she laughs, entering the turbolift Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "Now that would make for an interesting dance.. Sam@drcrippler: "Alright Kelly, show us the way!" Lendaria@crystyll FX | As the away team beam down, Kelly would see that the place looks as it did when she first arrived; with everything seemingly dead and powered down Keliaya@anncarise carries a bundle of long transporter signal enhancers under her arm as she beams down. Lendaria@crystyll FX | To Sam and Lennie; they can see the Endeavour in orbit around the planet they are /IN/ Lendaria@crystyll: ((think transparent dyson sphere!)) Keliaya@anncarise: "Wow, this place hasn't changed one bit. Not that it would, after lasting so long. I think we went this way the first time we were here..." Sam@drcrippler Sam whistles, leaning on his stick and looking at the Endeavour. "She's a beauty," Sam says Lendaria@crystyll: "I thought this place was all woken up now since y'all found it?" drifts off, following Sams gaze with a chuckle, "tha' she is!" Keliaya@anncarise: "It was, could've been on a timer though. It's got to get power from somewhere and power isn't usually infinite." Lendaria@crystyll: "True..." she shrugs, still mostly interested in admiring the exotic scenery Keliaya@anncarise: "We came to this circle area..." Lendaria@crystyll scans the immediate area, but finds nothing noteworthy Keliaya@anncarise points at the building ahead, "I think that's the one we entered." Lendaria@crystyll: "Maybe y'all was just admirin' th'view?" she chuckles Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "That's probably not far from what we were doing actually..." Sam@drcrippler: "The civlisation that built this..." Sam says, looking around with his keen eye Keliaya@anncarise: "They've got a knack for pretty architecture." Keliaya@anncarise: "And they definitely built things to last." Lendaria@crystyll: "Sure have, almost as fancy as Orion..." she muses Sam@drcrippler Sam pulls out his PADD and pulls up the original AAR Lendaria@crystyll thinks of her people purely as the once elegant high orions, and pretends the syndicate and their ugly ships don't exist Keliaya@anncarise: "Orion architecture looks like this? Don't think I've ever been to an Orion world..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Well... in my head it does..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Or, did..." Sam@drcrippler: The civilisation who built this obviously wanted this place to last" Lendaria@crystyll wanders around some, just generally exploring Keliaya@anncarise: "You've never been to one either? An Orion planet I mean." Keliaya@anncarise scans for signs of the defense field that blocked their transporters the last time. Lendaria@crystyll: "Ain't none. Not really, closest they got now's all polluted by tha' Syndicate" she almost spits their name Sam@drcrippler: "The complex designs likely too show off their impressive mastery of architecture to those who visit," Lendaria@crystyll FX | The defense field is inactive Lendaria@crystyll: "Makes sense. This were meant t'be the civilizations final restin' place or somethin' right? Gotta figure they'll pull out all th'stops f'that!" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "Can't argue with that. Lots of cultures do elaborate tombs and such." Sam@drcrippler nods at the two comments. "We should take scans of this wildlife, take soil and geological samples. They might give us a clue to the nature of these beings." Lendaria@crystyll: "An' this is th'tomb of an entire species!" Sam@drcrippler scans the environment with a tricorder. Sam@drcrippler enters data into his tricorder. Keliaya@anncarise: "Looks like there's no defense field this time. Didn't need to bring these signal enhancers I guess." Lendaria@crystyll: "Better safe than sorry, hun" she smiles to Kelly before proceeding to gather samples Keliaya@anncarise scouts their path while idly taking scans of the buildings around them. Lendaria@crystyll: "Tha' should do it" Sam@drcrippler as Sam is taking the soil samples, he pulls out a trowel and starts to carefully scrape away the top soil to see if there are any bits of broken finds, left behind by the civilisation Keliaya@anncarise calls down to them, "This way should be right. I can see the entrance we used from here." Lendaria@crystyll FX | At closer range, Kelly's tricorder can detect the distsinct energy signatures of Starfleet equipment in the main building Lendaria@crystyll: FX | Sadly, all Sam finds is neatly preserved topsoil Sam@drcrippler finding nothing, Sam places the soil back neatly, bottling some and then standing up, following the other two Lendaria@crystyll gets lost for a moment just staring down at the stars before being struck with a shudder of vertigo Keliaya@anncarise: "I'm picking up Starfleet equipment in there. Pretty sure we beamed up everything we took down last time, so it's got to be the research team." Lendaria@crystyll: "Makes sense they'd be pitched up in there" Lendaria@crystyll: "Ya think tha's why they been quite on comms - maybe signals ain't goin' through tha' place or somethin'?" Sam@drcrippler: "I hope it's a decent reseach team." Sam mutters before walking towards them Keliaya@anncarise: "Could be the defense field is active inside or something." Lendaria@crystyll: "Right!" Lendaria@crystyll pauses again looking down at the energy field and stars beneath, then decides to walk around Lendaria@crystyll pauses again looking down at the energy field and stars beneath, then decides to walk around Keliaya@anncarise doesn't seem the least bit worried about heights. Lendaria@crystyll isn't bothered by heights, just falling into an eternal abyss Lendaria@crystyll that... and EV suilts, but we're not going there today! Sam@drcrippler: "Alright, behind there could be anyone. Don't forget, this place has been open for a while and anyone could be here. I'd advise you all to be on the lookout." Sam says seriously Lendaria@crystyll nods, quietly checking her phaser Sam@drcrippler Sam suddenly grins, does an about turn, once again whistling and twirling his cane, walks forward, albeit, with a bit more care. Keliaya@anncarise follows Lennie's example and checks her phaser before following along. Lendaria@crystyll: "Ooooh" she marvels at the equally impressive interior Sam@drcrippler: "Wow." Sam@drcrippler: "It's like walking into an Egyptian pyramid!" Sam chuckles "Only modern!" Keliaya@anncarise: "Yeah...I'd never have believed this was from an ancient civilization if I didn't find out for myself..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Well ancient can be a relative term!" Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "Apparently so!" Keliaya@anncarise scans for the research team. Lendaria@crystyll FX | No sign still, but their equipment registers directly ahead Keliaya@anncarise: "I'm not getting any lifesigns, just equipment..." Sam@drcrippler: "Hmmm" Keliaya@anncarise: "Maybe they set up camp here and went to study another part of the place, but might be best to be careful." Sam@drcrippler: "Hmm yes, perhaps. I agree with you Kelly. Let's take it slow" Lendaria@crystyll: "Just th'way I like i-..." she pauses, realising she's talking out loud and flushes a deep green Keliaya@anncarise smirks at Lennie, "I'll keep that in mind Lieutenant." Sam@drcrippler Sam raises his eyebrow as he walks forward, his cane echoing on the floor Keliaya@anncarise sets the signal boosters on the side and instead keeps her phaser in hand. Lendaria@crystyll follows quickly, and quietly Sam@drcrippler inspects the monument in front of him Lendaria@crystyll also looks around, "Well tha's... different" Keliaya@anncarise: "This was the machine that did a brain scan of some sort on the commander." Sam@drcrippler immedietly steps back Keliaya@anncarise: "It's still active and we don't know what'll happen if someone who hasn't come into contact with the artifact- yeah, that's a good idea." Lendaria@crystyll: "Ooh, so it's an interface... neat!" Lendaria@crystyll totally doesn't want to try it and find out... Keliaya@anncarise nods, "We probably shouldn't try it. The door should be open now that we've been here already..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Right!" Sam@drcrippler scans the environment with a tricorder. Sam@drcrippler takes metal analysis Lendaria@crystyll studies glyphs on the interface machine Keliaya@anncarise takes scans of the machine to see if it's active. Sam@drcrippler: "How's everyone doing?" Sam asks Sam@drcrippler: "Report?" Lendaria@crystyll: "This language... it's so archaic" Lendaria@crystyll: "Yet there's somethin' kinda... elegant to it too" Keliaya@anncarise: "The Commander was speaking it for days..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Well I ain't even close t'understandin', let alone speakin' it" Lendaria@crystyll: "But I can tell it's a beautifully crafted tongue" she turns, "C'mon, I shouldn't get lost here!" Sam@drcrippler: "Lets move on, we may find something to help us to decipher it." Keliaya@anncarise: "If I remember right, all the doors here were locked except one..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Would be nice" she smiles Keliaya@anncarise tries the door directly ahead of the entrance. Lendaria@crystyll FX | It's locked Sam@drcrippler Sam tries this door Keliaya@anncarise: "Nope, not this one..." Lendaria@crystyll: "Can't get it first time every time, hun" she chuckles Keliaya@anncarise: "This was the place..." Lendaria@crystyll 's eyes widen as they enter the main repository, "Goddess..." Keliaya@anncarise looks around for the research team. Sam@drcrippler Sam is in tactical mode, looking around for possible ambushes or attacks. Lendaria@crystyll FX | The room is dimly lit, faint pulses of energy course through the walls and floors while the swirls of energy throughout the room coast at a serene pace Keliaya@anncarise: "This room definitely looks active." Lendaria@crystyll: "Barely..." Sam@drcrippler: "Where is everyone?" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "Must be a low power mode...and I was just thinking the same thing." Keliaya@anncarise scans for where the Starfleet equipment is. Lendaria@crystyll: "Maybe wha' we found ids just their base camp an' they're off explorin' elsewhere on this planet... library... repository-thing!" Sam@drcrippler: "Let's split up. Lennie, take the right side, Kelly, take the left side. I'll take centre." Lendaria@crystyll: "On it" she nods, drawing her phaser Keliaya@anncarise: "On my way." Sam@drcrippler Sam pulls out a slim sword from his cane Keliaya@anncarise glances back at Sam's armament, "Now -that's- classy." Lendaria@crystyll FX | As the trio approach the centre of the room, everything seems to wake up Lendaria@crystyll FX | Lights brighten, and the hum of consoles fills the stale air, while the swirling energy livens up and encircles the room Sam@drcrippler: "Okay so now it's definitely on." Lendaria@crystyll FX | The energy swirls grow in intensity and interconnect; all funnelling back into the main shaft in front of Sam Sam@drcrippler Sam jumps back, away from the central pillar Keliaya@anncarise approaches the centre to see what's going on, "Everything alright, captain?" Sam@drcrippler Sam points to the centre pillar. "Something turned on." Lendaria@crystyll FX | After a moments splurdge of liveliness, the energy settles into a focused channel within the central column and a figure materializes within; clearly a human male, and dressed as a researcher Keliaya@anncarise: "Is that...?" Sam@drcrippler: "It's not just me who sees that is it?" Keliaya@anncarise: "Uhh captain, you know how Commander Leveson-Scott was turned into a vessel for these dead aliens?" Keliaya@anncarise: "I've got a feeling they just did that to the research team..." Sam@drcrippler: "That's where the research team went..." Sam@drcrippler: "Who are you?" Lendaria@crystyll: "I am Dr. Silvestrie; Federation Reclamation Service, at your service!" he smiles with a bow Keliaya@anncarise: "The last time we were here they didn't seem malevolent." Sam@drcrippler: "Dr Silvestrie. Where is everyone else?" Lendaria@crystyll NPC | smiles, "I am so glad you asked! They are off exploring of course, this is a big old library after all; see!" he waves his hands and translucent floor turns transparent Lendaria@crystyll: :FX | Beneath their feet; the away team see the shaft of blue energy disappearing far below and interconnecting with countless others in a maze of living spaghetti Lendaria@crystyll: "Goddess! What is with these folks an' invisible floors!" she jumps Sam@drcrippler: "Are you speaking as Dr Silvestrie? Or through him?" Keliaya@anncarise: "Woah...that didn't happen the last time..." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "I am Dr. Silvestrie, my team and I have simply taken advantage of what this place has to offer as a means to aiding our research here" Keliaya@anncarise: "Why is this place in a low power mode?" Sam@drcrippler Sam turns to look at his team. Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "because more was not required until you entered the chamber. You see; this library is dying, and so to enable us to learn as much as possible; we move from one repository to the next, and it Lendaria@crystyll: routes the power with us. These shafts of light double as both communication and transport streams as required. It is all rather fan moving around in this manner!" Keliaya@anncarise: "Can we do anything to extend its duration?" Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "That is a primary focus of our reserch" he nods, "But what is your reason for coming here? We are not due for a report for weeks yet" Sam@drcrippler: "In truth, I was curious of this place and wanted to check it out myself," Sam responds, putting his sword in his cane Sam@drcrippler: "Indeed there is. Tell me Doctor, can you leave the light shaft?" Lendaria@crystyll NPC | shakes his head, "We must maintain power at the repository where my team is currently working, for this we must preserve power and limit to communication only" Sam@drcrippler: "You're trapped then?" Sam@drcrippler: "Unless we find another way to power the repository?" Lendaria@crystyll: "Only by neccessity. To divert power for a relocation would endanger life support for the rest of my team. That is all" Sam@drcrippler: "A library that literally needs people to survive..." Keliaya@anncarise: "That's why they needed the Commander to power up..." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "The vassel - ss this place refers - acted as a key when she returned with the seed of knowledge. It signalled this place that the galaxy had species capable of reaching it; ergo capable of Lendaria@crystyll: using it" Sam@drcrippler: "What are we going to do? We can't risk the lives of the researchers by pulling them out and we can't pull them out until we can power this place up." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | Captain, if you wish to explore and satisfy your curiosity then I will not keep you. I... would ask that you turn out the lights when you leave but, well... they will see to that!" Keliaya@anncarise: "Maybe, if we get an engineering team here they could find out how to power this place up without people..." Keliaya@anncarise: "But we're talking very complicated alien tech. You'll want experts from Daystrom, the Vulcan Science Academy..." Lendaria@crystyll: "In time, perhaps. But for now - if there is nothing further I can help you with - I should really return to my work" Sam@drcrippler: "Perhaps the key lies within the library itself. In which case the team will have to carry on digging until they can find it." Sam@drcrippler: "One last thing Doctor, before you go. What have you found of Species 2492?" Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "Species... 2482?" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "That could be a solution. And I don't think the researchers know about that designation..." Sam@drcrippler: "Hmm," Sam gives a description of the species Keliaya@anncarise: "They've been attacking ships all around this sector, and they're the only known species to use wormholes to travel." Keliaya@anncarise: "We don't really know what they look like...I'm afraid the captain's info is all we have to go on." Lendaria@crystyll: "I see... this is most troubling indeed. Let me cross check with the information we have catalogued here..." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | Returns after a few moments, "Well Captain... we have found a lot of similar accounts referenced here from other species indigenous to this region" Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | Nothing tied specifically to this 'Species 2492' of course, but from what you describe, a species called the Kilur may have had numerous encounters" Keliaya@anncarise: "The...Kilur? That sounds familiar..." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | Sadly that's about all I can find here for you, unless you want to look at the really ancient timeline for when the species who built this library was in it's prime" Keliaya@anncarise: "There was some sort of big crisis around that way back...don't know much about it myself." Sam@drcrippler: "Can you get more information for us?" Lendaria@crystyll: "Only some obscure references to something called "Itrin". From vague translations of scripture it is possibly the name of something; a species, or individual perhaps" Sam@drcrippler: "Hmm. Thank you Doctor, the information has been of great help." Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | "There is not even a direct association however, more a frequency of matched results spanning the timeline measured here" Lendaria@crystyll: NPC | nods, "Thank you Captain, I am sorry we have nothing more... conclusive for you. I wish you godspeed on your travels" Lendaria@crystyll: :NPC | bows his head again and ports away Sam@drcrippler Turns to the rest of his group. "Well...that was interesting..." Keliaya@anncarise: "Well...whatever this kilur business was I heard it stirred up the fleet pretty intensely." Lendaria@crystyll: "Wasn't it somethin' t'do with biogel or.. somethin' like tha'?" Sam@drcrippler: "We should report this back straight away." Keliaya@anncarise: "Yeah...If there's a connection with the new threat, we need to get this to fleet command." Keliaya@anncarise: "There's people back at base who know more about this Kilur biogel thing than we do." Lendaria@crystyll glances around whimsically, "Shame we can't stay here and learn of this place... I almost envy those guys..." Sam@drcrippler: "Good job team. Drinks all around when we get back on board!" Sam grins Lendaria@crystyll briefly considers ditching the field trip and going straight back to the ship, but thinks better of it

LOCATION: Repository World; Doza Sector
MISSION: An in-depth investigation on the Repository
OUTCOME: Geological samples taken. Contact with the researchers who seem to be voluntarily trapped within the archives to prevent the archive from being lost.
KEY PERSONNEL:
Captain Samuel Bishop Lieutenant Keliaya Lieutenant Lendaria
NARRATIVE:
Upon beaming down to the Repository, Lt Lendaria and I were taken aback by the stunning architecture of the repository, coming to the conclusion that this place was built to last, possibly as a funeral monument for the dying civilisation. After marveling at the architecture, the three of us began to work, scanning the area and taking samples of the soil, rocks, and vegetation for detailed analysis. The results are attached to this report. After this, we made our way deeper into the complex, following Lt Keliaya to the main body of the Repository. Although we were informed that a research team were in the vicinity, we could not find any signs of them, even though scans showed the presence of Starfleet equipment nearby. After deciding that the central hub of the Repository was most likely interfering with our sensors, we proceeded to move inside the Repository, albeit, with more caution, fearing the worst. Inside, we found a strange monument with glyph-like engravings. Lt Keliaya informed us that this monument was actually the machine that did the neural scan of Lieutenant Commander Leveson-Scott when the Gainsborough first encountered the artefact and that the glyphs were probably the same language the Lieutenant Commander was speaking. As we were unsure of whether or not the machine was still powered, we played it safe and moved on to the main area of the repository. There were no signs of the research team so the three of us split up to attempt to find them. However, as we approached the central pillar, the room flared up with energy, finally fusing at the pillar in the shape of a human male, dressed as a Starfleet researcher. Lt Keliaya informed us that last time, Lt Cmdr Leveson-Scott was used as a conduit for the aliens to speak and we feared the same fate had befallen the research team. The man seemed peaceful and calm, not wanting to harm us, and introduced himself as Dr. Silvestrie from the Federation Reclamation Service. He assured us that the research team was fine and that they were within the repository, the blue energy that surrounded Dr Silvestrie being the means of viewing the library. Dr Silvestrie informed us that the library needed living beings as a source of power and that, although his team were trapped, it was by necessity; just as normal libraries need people to visit and take care of the material within to survive, so too did this library, needing the presence of life to power and maintain the library. Should the research team leave, they would be endangering their own lives, and the information within the library. Upon realising that our away team didn't have the ability to devise an alternative power source, we decided that we would leave the research team within the library to collect more information before we are able to get them out. Before leaving, however, I asked Dr Silvestrie if the library had any information on Species 2492. Although the Doctor did not know of a species of that designation, upon checking the library for any mention of the description of the species, he revealed to us the following, crucial information; I have attached the mission audio logs below;
The audio logs seemed to indicate a connection between the Fleet's previous encounter with the Kilur and 2492. Without more information to go on, I deemed the mission to be over and allowed the team an hour to explore the area before beaming back to the Endeavour.
RECOMMENDATION: Given this new information, I recommend that command do three things, in descending order of urgency:
1. Assign a team of elite engineers and scientists to the Repository post haste to devise a method to power the library and rescue the research team.
2. Further, investigate this link between the Kilur and 2492.
3. Once 1 has been completed, assign a permanent group of researchers to the library as the wealth of knowledge within would be invaluable to us.
