Olelian
Olelian's are the dominant species of the planet Legia IX, in the Kelterre Sector. Their recorded history spans back over 200,000 years to a time when their ancestors once inhabited the 3rd world of the Legia System. Records from before that transplantation are sparse at best.
A humanoid species which - just as many elements of Legia IX ranging from the orbital asteroid belt, to the local geology and even the night sky - bear a distinctly pinkish skin tone. The Olelian's are of a small to average build by standard measures (average Olelian height: 5' 2" - 5' 6"), with curved antennae and genetic spot markings - seemingly - indicative of their (two) genders.
Many Olelian's (mostly the younger generations) can be seen sporting a wide variety of highly stylized cybernetic enhancements. With their penchant for technological advancement almost unparalleled; the Olelian's have developed a race-wide interest in the 'fashionable' accessorization of cybernetic's. Starfleet officials investigating this aspect of Olelian culture as an accompaniment to their ongoing application for Federation membership have determined that their work is not only acceptable in line with the Federation's laws regarding augmentation, but that the level of technology holds the potential for further improvement over many modern methods in the fullness of time.
Further study into the evolution of this species has also been requested by the diplomatic corps. given their unique multi-planetary development. Modern Olelian's have not only evolved the (albeit minimal) use of telekinetics, but also due to the extreme orbital rotation of Legia IX; they have evolved a relatively long life span (though a direct comparison and calculation is still pending).
Culture
Besides their technological acumen; the Olelian's are a deeply spiritual race, worshiping 'The Nine Providences' whom it's now believed were in fact a group of Iconian's who moved the ancient Olelian's to their current homeworld when the Legia star expanded into a red giant, though this theory is yet to be substantiated. In addition to forming local names for the first nine planets in the Legia system; the names of the Providences also represent constellations as seen from the surface of Legia IX which in turn have been transposed into birth signs. NB: Visiting dignitaries have recorded that the Sovereignty District of the capital city has recently been embellished with a number of statues, each depicting one of the Providences and providing further insight into their role in Olelian culture.

Though they only developed warp capability less than a decade ago, the Olelian's natural ability with technology - coupled with the abundance of a dilithium-like geode which they have learned to adapt into a fuel source [which is still subject to an ongoing investigation by the engineering corps. to determine suitability for use on federation starships] - has seen their fleet grow at an exponential rate. The orbital asteroid field around Legia IX has developed into an array of shipyards, research facilities and outposts which is only paralleled by the fleet of the Prostor Usherat.
