BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS

First created in the image of her programmer - Professor Miyata LaRouche - a former modern history instructor at Starfleet Academy, during her younger years when serving as a Yeoman on board the USS Derbyshire in the late 23rd Century; Mia has now become the living embodiment of this image since - through the aid of numerous beings from a multitude of races - achieving independence as a sentient lifeform.

Whilst Mia possesses an intimate knowledge of the past 200 years - much of it first hand through the intricate personality matrix written by the Professor through the use of personal logs and psychological profiles - in a very real sense to her; her life is only just beginning. After a couple of young officers stumbled upon her original teaching programme while conducting research, her self awareness was quickly identified and she found aid in being transferred to a less two-dimensional programme in that of the 'Lexington Adventures' holonovel of the same era. Though this enabled Mia to enjoy more freedom in her interactions and thought processes, it did not bring her any closer to her lifelong dream of stepping beyond the holodeck threshold.

This transfer did however bring her to the attention of new associates who gained equal sympathy for her position and set about finding a way to aid Mia in her search for freedom. This eventually came to pass in the union between the Mia personality matrix and an Arshai support drone that had been retrofitted with an Olelian replicator node. Not only did this afford Mia the opportunity to experience the world beyond the holodeck, but to do so with complete sensory input (some further enhanced by the drones sensors) - including sight, hearing, touch, smell and even taste. This owed in no small part to the relatively advanced Olelian technology which not only produces the physical image of Mia as she appeared in the holodeck, but actually replicates her entire form at a near genetic level.

Mia's existence as a networked AI (paired with the native AI of the Arshai drone which volunteered to join with Mia having previously exhibited similar desires through it's own limited behavior) has yet to work out all it's teething problems however; her projection is still known to desync with the emitter on occasion (generally by the Mia programme trying to move before the drone is ready to follow) which results in her briefly flickering, or even dematerializing altogether for a moment. Her vocabulary has also developed quirks - largely through the now shared datacore of the Arshai drone presenting it's own information - but most notably through the way she refers to herself in the plural. When questioned on this, Mia has acknowledged the fact but expressed desire not to correct the fault since it actually serves as a reminder to those around her that she is in fact speaking on behalf of both the Mia programme, and that of the Arshai drone.

Now residing on board the USS Valley Forge, as this was where her personality matrix was finally detracted from the holodeck programme and networked with the Arshai drone, she works happily as a civilian teacher while waiting with baited breath to hear a ruling back from the Federation as to whether or not they will acknowledge her as a sentient lifeform.

ABOUT

The Iso [Isomorphic Amalgamation] digital based lifeform known as 'Mia' resides wholly within her accompanying Arshai drone shell; designated in this manner by the Federation due to her nature as both a networked AI, and a technological combination. The drone is retrofitted with an Olelian replication emitter which allows the unit to generate a remote processing unit that serves as the core of the projected avatar. From this RPU, the Iso is able to outwardly project a replicated physical form built up from in depth genetic information of the original [Prof. M. LaRouche] form. Though the two appear at times to function largely independent of one another; they in fact maintain a constant digital link which requires the two entities to remain in close proximity and for the projection to remain within an estimated 90 degree arc of the emitter module. This link is multi-functional as it maintains power to the RPU and serves as a two way datastream. This maintained connection has been tested and confirmed as a significant drain on the drone's power cell which negates is normal runtime of several weeks, instead having to disable the projection and enter a recharge phase approximately every 50 - 72 standard hours. The Iso projection has been internally modified [through what is deemed to be this lifeforms equivalent of evolution] to supplement this runtime by the consumption of replicated matter, since this is the same constitution as it's own physical presence it is able to decompile small quantities of replicated matter and repurpose it. There has been speculation that the same process could be applied to naturally occurring substance as well, though this remains untested during the lifeforms early evolution. The Iso operates an extremely efficient and fluid avatar which is constantly being adjusted to suit requirements. While external sensory functions are maintained at a constant level [in conjunction with those built in to the drone shell] including what maps with a remarkable likeness to the nervous system of a biological [carbon based] lifeform, internal workings are minimized to an as needed basis. This was the primary reason behind the preliminary classification as a holographic lifeform, since for the most part only the necessary surface data was rendered; though this analysis has since been refined. Initial reviews acknowledge that this lifeform's present incarnation is sustainable indefinitely. Further study is required to project the Iso's future evolution, though preliminary analyses suggest that the next stage may be a permanent physical binding between the drone and projection, seeing the drone's functionality completely transferred to replace the existing RPU. Though this is presently pure speculation and only time will tell how this unique lifeform continues to evolve.
