BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Born to a family with a history of Starfleet service, Leila's father was a ship captain who lost his life in the Dominion War. Wishing to prepare the Federation for such large-scale conflicts, Leila began her career as a tactical specialist within the Military Assault Command Operations and eventually ascended to team leader during the Klingon War. Injuries in the line of duty eventually took Leila out of service and she decided to pursue her future in Starfleet's Command division. After the required training she was recommissioned as a Lieutenant Commander and served as the First Officer of two starships throughout the Borg, Voth and Iconian conflicts.
After a recent promotion to Captain, Leila Omar has been assigned to the latest U.S.S. Lexington, a Sentinel-class retrofit designed for exploration missions. The selection was deliberate in order to transition the former MACO and wartime officer into Starfleet's peacetime role. Due to her training and her experiences however, Captain Omar often expects more discipline of her crew than usual for an ordinary Starfleet vessel and adopts a very tactical-based view of situations.
