The IKS San'leth is an experimental D14x Bird of Prey designed to be faster and deadlier than other ships of its size. As state-of-the-art Klingon technology, the D14x is more expensive to produce but also much more powerful than any other Bird of Prey in the Klingon Defense Force's arsenal. The San'leth is currently used as the parasite craft of the IKS Daramar, flagship of Captain Sadia, the leader of Task Force Hurq Mevik. The small but versatile Bird of Prey is usually commanded by Lieutenant B'Atar, a young but trusted member of Sadia's personal crew.

Under B'Atar's guidance the San'leth has crushed many enemies several times its size, but its battles has not been without scars. The bird's sleek and modern look is all but gone, with an entire wing replaced by Breen components after taking extensive damage and requiring field repairs. As the only materials available were from recently destroyed Breen craft, the San'leth was patched up using this salvage, giving it a sharp, asymmetrical appearance. Furthermore, upon returning to base it was discovered that Klingon disruptor weapons were incompatible with the Breen technology used, and unwilling to rebuild again, B'Atar opted to outfit the refitted wing with Breen weapons. As a result, half the ship is equipped with polaron beams while the rest carry standard KDF disruptor cannons and a turret. The original design of the D14x bears two turrets which can rotate to cover all angles around the ship; having only one the San'leth is significantly weaker if flanked, but the addition of extra forward facing weaponry makes the Bird of Prey even more effective at attack runs, which is what these ships are designed for. Another benefit of the Breen refits is that Breen vessels appear confused by them and have trouble targeting the San'leth.
