Variona came to the jedi temple on coruscant as young girl just before she was sold as a slave to Karagga the Hutt because of her rare skin colour even for her species since Lethan Twi'leks are born with the skin colour of red instead of the more common blue, green , yellow and purple. But as the Auction was taking place she was found by a passing jedi by the name of Knight Jinu who was just returning from the an outer rim mission and was stucking up on fuel on Ryloth.

Years later she would end up defecting to the sith together with Darvik Malcom co-founder of havoc squad, one of the reason she defects is because she e nds up fall in love with Serpin and later marry her even though she is looked down for being an alien and Serpin being a noble. She would later help Serpin by sending her youngest children to the republic to live their uncle and aunt Jace Malcom and Satele Shan.
