LEGACY OF THE MACALPINE

HMS Empire MacAlpine [1942 - 1970]
MV Empire MacAlpine was a grain ship converted to become the first Merchant Aircraft Carrier (MAC ship).
The Burntisland Shipbuilding Company, Fife, Scotland, built her under orders from the Ministry of War Transport and was delivered on 14th April 1943. As a MAC ship, only her aircrew and the necessary maintenance staff were naval personnel. She was operated by William Thomson & Co (the Ben Line).

HMS MacAlpine R10 [2020-2070]
HMS MacAlpine (R10) was a Queen Elizabeth class carrier commissioned in the years building up to the third world war. She saw service throughout the war and after it, until it was finally retired as one of the most decorated ships in the fleet after 50 long years of service and countless refits after it finished its service as a training ship.

USS MacAlpine (NCC 187)
The first warp capable vessel to carry the MacAlpine name into the stars was this Daedalus class; Lost during the Earth-Romulan war.

USS MacAlpine (NCC 1258)
The next vessel to carry the name MacAlpine for Starfleet was this Shepard class, that saw multiple battles with the Klingons during the war after the battle of the Binary Stars. Having launched in July of 2252, it saw service as an exploration vessel before the outbreak of the war before it rekindled the legend of MacAlpine as a warrior.
Surviving the war, it continued to see service throughout the 23rd Century as an explorer and defender for the outer colonies. Until she is retired as the next MacAlpine enters service.

USS MacAlpine (NCC 1768)
With the previous MacAlpine getting close to being retired, a decision was made to let the name and its story continue its service by giving its name to a new Constitution class to the refit standard. It saw service throughout the 24th Century until it was destroyed during the Dominion war.
