Keelah@crystyll FX | After diverting from their course through Regulated space to drop a comms buoy in a non-regulated region, the VF holds position in a desolate star system with it's buoy Keelah@crystyll FX | It has been a few days of diversionary r&r coupled with study of the unremarkable planets in the system Keelah@crystyll FX | As has become routine, the senior staff gather in the conference room for the morning review Keelah@crystyll | TQ looks to Lennie, "So, find anything interesting yet?" Keelah@crystyll | Lennie shakes her head, "Nu-uh, not even a microbe worth notin'" Keelah@crystyll | TQ huffs lightly and pouts, "We could have at least pitched up around an M class planet..." Keelah@crystyll | Vrolmacht: "The quiet of this place is... unsettling" Keliaya@anncarise: "I suppose there's a reason this place isn't Regulated. There's not a single gram of technology or anything interesting." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra laughs, "Speak for yourself big guy, I find it quite therapeutic." Keelah@crystyll | TQ looks to Kelly, "Could at least be something worth studying, is all. This is the first time since starting officers training I actually have time to study outside of my duties and-" she turns+ Keelah@crystyll: + at the door opening Keelah@crystyll strolls in, raktajino in hand, making for her seat, "Good morning everyone" Keliaya@anncarise nods and smiles at Keelah, "Hello Captain." Around the table" she looks to Kazra at her left Keelah@crystyll | Kazra shakes her head, "Nothing to report from medical" Keelah@crystyll FX | The sentiment is repeated by Silvestrie & Vrolmacht before she looks to Kelly Keliaya@anncarise shakes her head, "Everything's working well on the ship, we're taking the opportunity to conduct some maintenance work on some systems, but nothing that'll affect us too much." Keelah@crystyll nods, looking next to TQ Keelah@crystyll | TQ: "comm traffic continues to flow smoothly in both directions, Captain. The initial influx has settled now" Keelah@crystyll | Lennie also shakes her head, "Nothin' t'report'ere either. Teams is makin' steady progress wit' ongoin' projects, but tha's about it" Keelah@crystyll smiles and nods, "Call me old fashioned, but there's something quite satisfying about the mundane after all we've been through of late. Enjoy it while you can" Keelah@crystyll: "How are we doing with rotating downtime, are all your teams rostered in for extra r&r while we're here?" Keelah@crystyll FX | Most nod a general affirmative, though the rest are interrupted by the hiss of the door opening once more as Mia bounds in Keliaya@anncarise looks to Mia curiously. Keelah@crystyll looks up with a perked brow, "Mia?" Keelah@crystyll | Mia: "Apologies, mon Capitaine. But we have a problem" Keelah@crystyll gestures to a vacant seat, "I'm sure I don't have to tell you of all people not to be shy, Mia. What's going on?" Keelah@crystyll | Mia smiles politely and sits, though the smile is clearly glazing over a more troubled look Keelah@crystyll | Mia: "It's Ms Rianni. She did not arrive for class this morning" Keelah@crystyll | Lennie: "E'eryone's entitled t'oversleep now an' again, Mia. We ain't all gots internal alarm clocks, y'know" Keliaya@anncarise: "Did you check to see if the ship computer can locate her?" Keelah@crystyll | Mia nods to Kelly, "That is why we came here as quick as we could. The computer reports her as being in her quarters, but when we checked we could not find her there. So find Cadet Tierno" Keelah@crystyll: "Split up and explore every avenue. I expect updates on the hour" Keelah@crystyll | Silvestrie nods: "I'll deploy my teams to critical areas around the ship, Captain" Keelah@crystyll slowly turns a perked brow to Silvestrie, "...why?" Keelah@crystyll | Silvestrie: "As a precaution. Captain..." Keelah@crystyll shakes her head, "Lieutenant, we are not jumping to conclusions because of her troubled past, understood?" Keelah@crystyll | Silvestrie nods sheepishly, "Aye Captain" Keelah@crystyll gives a curt nod, pushing up from her seat, "Alright. Dismissed" Keelah@crystyll FX | The staff disperse promptly, liaising and planning between one another as they filter out Keliaya@anncarise stands and taps her combadge on her way out, instructing the DC teams to check the tubes. Keliaya@anncarise approaches Kazra, "If we use your latest medical examination of Rianni, would that give enough information to narrow down her lifesigns and hers alone from an internal sensor sweep?" Keelah@crystyll | Kazra considers this, "It's worth a shot!" Keelah@crystyll | Kazra heads over to a bridge station and begins running the data, "What do you think could have happened to her...?" Keliaya@anncarise taps away as she calibrates the internal sensors to be best refined for a pinpoint search, "Maybe she just needed some time alone and didn't want to be found? She probably has quite a bit on her - Keliaya@anncarise: - mind, with all that she's been through." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra pauses briefly and sighs before continuing, "I sometimes forget when I see her happy and smiling every day..." Keliaya@anncarise: "I do think she's getting better, and she's among friends here too. But these kinds of experiences don't really go away, unfortunately." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra: "I only hope she realizes that she's among friends here, if you're right" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "I hope so too. I don't blame her if she wants some time by herself for any reason, I've gone to quiet areas of the ship myself on occasion too." Keliaya@anncarise: "Although the computer's never thought I was missing before..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra nods, "We all need alone time, but this doesn't feel right..." she looks to the screen, "Alright we're set to go" Keliaya@anncarise initiates the scan, "It's definitely unusual. Let's see if the scan can find her. If not, things are going to get even more complicated..." Keliaya@anncarise keeps her eye on the scan results as it runs. Keelah@crystyll FX | The display first shows a blip for all registered lifesigns which reduces as it's filtered down Keelah@crystyll | Kazra: "Ok, trimming all the non-Human lifesigns first to clear the picture" Keelah@crystyll | Kazra: "I'm cross referencing for a genetic anomaly that's unique to her" Keelah@crystyll FX | The remaing Human blips slowly fade one by one until... there are none left at all Keelah@crystyll | Kazra stands back from the console with a frown, "It just got more complicated..." Keliaya@anncarise sighs, "I was really hoping it would be simple for once..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra, "I suspect if it were going to be, Mia would have found her long before she thought to come running into the morning meeting" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "Mia is certainly resourceful." Keliaya@anncarise: "There's only two possibilities if she's not showing up on the scans. Either she's somehow left the ship, or she's fooled the sensors into not detecting her." Keliaya@anncarise: "Either would leave some trace behind..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra: "Maybe a diagnostic of internal sensors would show any inconsistencies that could point to tampering?" Keliaya@anncarise taps away at her console, "I'm running one now." Keliaya@anncarise: "You don't think one of the Regulators might've taken her somewhere, do you? We can detect their tachyon transporters, but having seen these Arrays that can pull ships in from half a quadrant away..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra scowls, "They'd better not have!" Keliaya@anncarise: "If this was the other Rianni, I might understand if they had an interest in her, but the real Rianni's just human...they shouldn't see her as anything spe- wait, I have something..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra peers over Keliaya@anncarise: "There's an inconsistency in a sensor node on Deck 6, Section 22. Looks to be an airlock..." Keelah@crystyll | Kazra goes pale, "You don't think...?" Keelah@crystyll steps over to the pair, "You have something?" Keliaya@anncarise: "It's possible, but we shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. It could be for any number of reasons, or maybe just another issue of sensor tampering we haven't-" Keliaya@anncarise turns and nods to Keelah, "We couldn't find her on an internal sensor sweep, but I did locate an inconsistency in an airlock sensor on Deck 6." Keelah@crystyll 's face betrays the same dreaded thought as Kazra before she quickly shakes it off Keelah@crystyll: "We can't rule anything out. Get down there and verify the situation" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "I'm on my way." Keelah@crystyll | TQ calls over, "Captain, we might have something here" Keliaya@anncarise: "Kazra, try running her medical data on a close proximity external scan in the meantime. Just in case she's outside the ship." Keelah@crystyll glances to Kelly & Kazra before joining TQ, "What have you got Tee?" Keliaya@anncarise turns to head to the lift but moves over to TQ as well to see what she found. Keelah@crystyll | TQ: "I've been going back over the recent comms traffic. There was an unusually high volume for the Cadet inbound from the Sol System. I saw this amongst it..." Keelah@crystyll FX | TQ taps away and a sealed message header with a black border appears on the screen Keelah@crystyll | TQ: "I've not delved into it, but I've ran comms long enough to recognize that header" Keliaya@anncarise leans in to examine the message. Keelah@crystyll: "I am familiar with them, yes..." she sighs. Keelah@crystyll | TQ: "After seeing this, Captain... I dug into the newsfeeds and I think you should see this" Keelah@crystyll FX | more tapping and an article begins to scroll from the Federation news service. It details a tragic accident that occurred a few weeks ago where a containment failure resulted in a chemical + Keelah@crystyll: + explosion at an arboreal research station on Mars Keelah@crystyll clasps a hand to her mouth as she reads, "Oh stars..." Keliaya@anncarise bites her lip nervously before nodding, "I'll head down to the airlock, see if she's there and try to talk to her." Keelah@crystyll nods, "Let's go" Keelah@crystyll FX | The pair arrive at the airlock following a brief turbolift run Keliaya@anncarise stands outside the airlock and checks with her tricorder to see if there are any lifesigns within. Keliaya@anncarise: "No lifesigns, but one of the EV suits is gone." Keelah@crystyll: "I assume you have no scheduled maintenance this morning out there?" Keliaya@anncarise shakes her head, "It has to be the Cadet." Keliaya@anncarise taps her combadge, "Kazra, any luck with finding her on external scans?" Keelah@crystyll | Kazra responds: "Maybe. I am seeing something on the ventral plating not far from your location" Keliaya@anncarise looks to Keelah, "She's probably on the hull. We could probably get a lock and beam her in, but that might startle her." Keelah@crystyll shakes her head, "You know as well as I do what she's facing at the moment after seeing that mail she got" Keliaya@anncarise taps her combadge again, "Tee, we think the Cadet's gone for an unauthorized spacewalk. Any chance you might be able to connect to the suit's internal comms?" Keelah@crystyll | TQ: "I see no reason why not" Keelah@crystyll shakes her head, "Belay that. I'm going out there first" Keliaya@anncarise: "She did tamper with the sensors, so she might've disconnect-" Keliaya@anncarise looks to Keelah, "I'll go with you in that case, if you permit it." Keelah@crystyll starts prepping a fresh EV suit, "She's clearly feeling isolated and alone and expressing that through her actions. She needs a personal connection to reach out and bring her back, not a scare" Keelah@crystyll looks to Kelly with a smile and nods, "Suit up" Keliaya@anncarise begins prepping her suit as well. Keelah@crystyll FX | After a few minutes of prep, Keelah & Kelly stand in the outer airlock, magnetized and ready to exit Keelah@crystyll looks to Kelly, "Ready?" Keliaya@anncarise looks back to Keelah, "Let's go." Keelah@crystyll nods and proceeds slowly (not that they have much choice of pacing with magboots) Keelah@crystyll FX | The pair don't need to walk far before they see Rianni's EV suit. She is within the recessed hull, curled up in a ball with her boots magnetized against the recess so she appears laying down Keliaya@anncarise: "There she is!" Keelah@crystyll: <C> Bridge, we have visual Keelah@crystyll looks to Kelly and silently nods for them to proceed before stepping closer Keliaya@anncarise follows Keelah closer, keeping her eyes on Rianni and checking if she responds in any way or even notices their approach. Keelah@crystyll: <C> "Rianni...? Rianni, it's Captain Keelah. I'm here with Kelly..." Keelah@crystyll FX | Rianni stirs, head turning to face the pair before sharply turning away Keelah@crystyll continues to approach, stopping at Rianni's side before lowering herself to the deck Keelah@crystyll: "Rianni, it's ok. We-" Keelah@crystyll FX | Rianni cuts her off as she lunges towards Keelah, wrapping her arms tight around her shoulders and holding on. She can be heard sobbing through the intercom Keliaya@anncarise steps back slightly as Rianni suddenly lunges at Keelah, but eases as she sees her holding on. Keelah@crystyll | TQ speaks to Kelly on a private comm line, "Goddess, the poor girl. We've got to do something to help her" Keelah@crystyll just holds the upset girl and lets her work it out of her system Keliaya@anncarise: <C> "We're here for you, Rianni. I understand if you need to be alone, but we can arrange for that on the ship." Keelah@crystyll looks around and notices that they have a very clear view of the Regulator escort ship from here. She points it out to Kelly Keelah@crystyll: "Rianni, why did you come out here? To this spot specifically?" Keliaya@anncarise looks to where Keelah is pointing, then back to her and Rianni. Keelah@crystyll | Rianni pulls back and turns sharply towards the Regulator ship, body language visibly tense and aggressive, "It's all their fault!" Keelah@crystyll: "Rianni..." Keliaya@anncarise: "Why do you think it's their fault?" Keelah@crystyll | Rianni: "No! *sniff* They made us go quiet, and I didn't get to speak to her! I didn't get to say- *sniff* to say goodbye!" Keelah@crystyll FX | Rianni sobs some more as Keelah pulls her close again Keliaya@anncarise: "You couldn't have known what was going to happen." Keelah@crystyll | TQ to Kelly: "Reading up on that new report... I think I see it. Most of the victims survived the initial incident but died a few days later from exposure" Keelah@crystyll: "She's right, Rianni. I'm sorry this happened, but remember we came out here expecting to have no contact at all" Keelah@crystyll | Rianni sobs, "It's not fair!" Keelah@crystyll | Rianni: "It's not right. We're all alone out here. I'm all alone..." Keliaya@anncarise: "We always have each other, Rianni. It can get lonely out here sometimes, but we're always here to help one another." We'll soon have her reminded just how much everyone here loves her and cares for her, mark my words!" Keliaya@anncarise: "Come on, Rianni. Let's go inside. If you want to be alone among the stars, we can always arrange for someone to take you out on a shuttle." Keelah@crystyll: "We'll work through this, Rianni. Whatever it takes, I promise. What do you say?" Keelah@crystyll | Rianni meekly nods her head before starting to stand. Keelah encourages her up as she stands as well Keelah@crystyll FX | The trio slowly make their way back over to the airlock --- Keliaya@anncarise rings the doorbell. Rianni@crystyll: "It's open" Keliaya@anncarise steps inside, "Hello Rianni." Keliaya@anncarise: "Just coming to check on you. If you'd rather be alone, I understand." Rianni@crystyll looks over from her bed. She scooches over to sit on the edge, shaking her head, "I don't know what I want anymore" Rianni@crystyll 's eyes are red where she's clearly been crying. She's got a scattering of PADD's beside her on the bed too, with one held firmly in both hands Keliaya@anncarise steps closer, "Don't mind if I join you, then?" Rianni@crystyll shakes her head, looking down still Keliaya@anncarise takes a seat on the bed beside Rianni, "Is everyone else in your family alright?" Rianni@crystyll nods Keliaya@anncarise looks down for a moment as well before turning her gaze back to Rianni, "I'm sorry you didn't get to say goodbye." Keliaya@anncarise sighs, "It doesn't make it easy either way, though. It's just so sudden, and sometimes it takes a long time to even register what happened." Rianni@crystyll: "What am I going to do, Kelly?" Keliaya@anncarise: "Take your time. Process everything, feel everything you need to feel. You might need to do things to prevent yourself from dwelling too much, but don't bury your feelings." Keliaya@anncarise: "Not everyone feels the same thing, but it's important to let it out. If you need to be alone, let everyone know not to bother you for a bit. If you need to vent, load up a holoprogram to hit things." Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "If you need company, you have a lot of friends on this ship to help you." Rianni@crystyll smiles faintly, "I'm sorry I caused you all that trouble" Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "Don't worry about it. Like I said, we all react differently. I certainly never went for any spacewalks." Rianni@crystyll: "I just... I felt like I was suffocating, you know? I had to get out..." Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "I understand. Going into space isn't exactly my first choice, seeing how stuffy these suits can be...but I know what you mean." Rianni@crystyll: "I'm not exactly a fan either..." Keliaya@anncarise: "That's why I suggested a shuttle. If you like the view of stars, you can always go out with one. Or just...load up a holoprogram with space." Rianni@crystyll: "I think I'll stick with the holodeck" Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "I'm one for the holodeck as well, though I'm fairly sure we do very different things in it." Rianni@crystyll chuckles a little, dabbing her eyes with her sleeve, "I probably will spend a bit of time there later, yeah" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "It's a healthy way to let out your emotions." Keliaya@anncarise: "And don't be afraid to show them in front of others too. There's nothing wrong with having feelings, and we're all here to help you with them." Rianni@crystyll: "Thanks Kelly" Keliaya@anncarise: "If I may ask...what programs are you thinking? Still seeing Emma?" Rianni@crystyll nods Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "It's always a good to have someone close to talk to." Rianni@crystyll: "Only reason I'm not there now is because I was a little scared to let her see me like this..." Rianni@crystyll snorts, "I must sound rediculous... worrying about a holo character like that..." Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "Not at all. It's normal to be self-conscious, but you have to remember that sometimes it's better to just be yourself." Keliaya@anncarise: "And if you really do want someone to know you, it's arguably better to show them all sides of yourself rather than putting on an act." Rianni@crystyll glances at the PADD still in her hands, "She would have really liked Emma..." Keliaya@anncarise: "I'm sure Emma would've liked her too. You can still tell Emma about her, if you like." Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "You shouldn't be afraid of going to her. I've met Emma too, and she's nice and understanding. She'll never judge you for having feelings." Rianni@crystyll 's eyes water as she thinks on it, still staring down, "I know. And I will go. Soon" Keliaya@anncarise: "If you need anything in the meantime, don't be afraid to come to any of us." Rianni@crystyll: "I suppose a wormhole leading home is a bit much to ask..." Keliaya@anncarise chuckles, "Okay, everything within our capabilities." Rianni@crystyll smiles a little, "Thanks Kelly" Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "Just remember that what you're going through is perfectly normal, and that a lot of us have dealt with the same feelings before and we're here to help." Rianni@crystyll: "I'm sure I'll be more at peace with everything once i speak to my Dad later" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "I hope that helps. It's good to hear that everyone else is safe as well." Rianni@crystyll: "I just hope I get to see Danete too" Keliaya@anncarise: "That'll certainly be nice. I'll talk to the Captain about saying near the buoy for a little longer, so you can have more time to talk if you need." Rianni@crystyll: "I don't want to be any more trouble..." Keliaya@anncarise: "Out here, we have to help out one another. It's not trouble to do something to help you out." Rianni@crystyll: "I guess..." Keliaya@anncarise: "We sent out that shuttle mission to help Sin figure out why the Chlasi had an interest in her. You're part of the crew, helping you is part of what we do." Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "And speaking of our time in Trinity space, it's not like all you do is take from us and not give back. You developed that maneuver which helped counter the shield modifications I made - Keliaya@anncarise: - and fell into the hands of people who shouldn't have it. Without your help, that probably would've played out very differently." Rianni@crystyll: "And I suppose a longer comms window will be good for everyone too" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "Definitely. I'm sure many people would be happy to have more time to talk with their friends and family back home." Rianni@crystyll: "Probalby wouldn't be so bad then" she smiles a little Keliaya@anncarise: "And it likely won't be too hard to convince the Captain given the benefits for all involved. She has family back in Federation space herself." Rianni@crystyll: "Alright, well... as long as it's not /just/ for my benefit I guess I wouldn't feel so bad about it" Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "I'll ask the Captain about it, then." Keliaya@anncarise rings the doorbell to Rianni's room. Rianni@crystyll: "Come in" Keliaya@anncarise steps inside, "Hello Rianni. How have you been doing?" Rianni@crystyll stands at her dresser, adding finishing touches her outfit. She turns with a faint smile, "Well enough, I guess. Are you sure this is such a good idea though? I don't want to be a downer..." Keliaya@anncarise smiles reassuringly, "You'll be fine, don't worry. Besides, you're among friends. We're here to help, not exclude you." Rianni@crystyll: "I know, I just want to help my friends too. Like by not ruining their christmas party" Keliaya@anncarise: "I'm sure most of them will be happy to see you doing alright," she smiles again, "Which reminds me...did you end up seeing Emma yet?" Rianni@crystyll: "Yeah..." she frowns a little Keliaya@anncarise: "Did it not go well?" Rianni@crystyll: "It's not that. She was just very... odd" Keliaya@anncarise: "Oh? How so?" Rianni@crystyll: "I don't know, she was being very coy. Moreso than normally... I don't know, maybe the program is coming up to a special event or something because I could swear it's like she was up to mischief" Keliaya@anncarise: "Quite possible...I've never seen the coding of the program so you'll have to ask Mia about the events." Rianni@crystyll sighs softly, "Anyway, yes. I did still get to spend some time with her. I couldn't bring my self to tell her what has happened though, I think she could tell I was holding back..." Keliaya@anncarise nods, "I understand the feeling of not wanting to let everyone know what you're going through. It can get tiring if everyone starts treating you differently." Keliaya@anncarise: "But you should at least let your friends know. Otherwise, they won't be able to help you. They'll know something's going on, but not what, and it'll be difficult for both of you." Rianni@crystyll nods, "I just wasn't ready to talk about it yet because I knew she'd make me open up. I owe her an apology and some explanation" Keliaya@anncarise smiles, "Well, no rush. Whenever you're ready." Keliaya@anncarise: "Speaking of, are you all set?" Rianni@crystyll draws a deep breath, "If I say no, will it make a difference..." Keliaya@anncarise: "We could take a few more moments if you need...but everyone's eager to see you come." Rianni@crystyll: "Yeah, kind of figured..." she chuckles morosely. "Let's do this then" Keliaya@anncarise: "Come on!" Keliaya@anncarise leads Rianni to what's totally a holodeck... Keliaya@anncarise steps into the holodeck with Rianni... T'Quila@crystyll asks, moving in from the door and leaving it open for Kelly to follow and take the discussion out of the corridor Keliaya@anncarise chuckles as she steps inside, "I'm not being serious. These things never truly go away. I didn't want to show it with Rianni, she knows I've been through the same, but the last thing she needs is someone else dealing with it badly." Everyone deals with it differently, and I suppose by some definitions I'd probably be dealing with it badly." My belief is that one sufficiently strong will be the safest way to explore anything further" Keliaya@anncarise: "I actually have some experience with telepathic bonds...I can't form them myself for obvious reasons, but both my previous partners have had some degree of telepathic ability." My husband can only sense emotions from those outside his species, but my partner after that was Betazoid, - Keliaya@anncarise: - and a talented telepath at that." Keliaya@anncarise: "We actually bonded before we did anything physical, if you can believe that," she chuckles. T'Quila@crystyll: "Wow, I wasn't even sure that was possibly." So having experienced it, you can probably appreciate my apprehension more than most. When you throw in exaggerated Vulcan emotions and Orion influences into the mix... It's scary" Keliaya@anncarise: "I can understand where your reservations come from. One of the most important things is to share first before bonding." T'Quila@crystyll: "One day" she smiles, "One day..." Keliaya@anncarise smiles back, "Tell you what, if you are ready for it one day..." Keliaya@anncarise: "I..." she bites her lip in a brief second of hesitation before smiling again, "I'd be open for trying it with you, if you'd like." I thought it would be a joyous occasion for the crew, when I convinced our Evaluator to permit a detour into a patch of non-Regulated space so that we might temporarily deploy a comms buoy to surprise the crew with contact from home during the seasonal festivities. This morning however, served as a stark reminder to the less pleasant side of life out here...
My morning debrief with the senior staff was interrupted by Mia's arrival, who came to inform us that CDT Tierno had not shown for her lessons. We quickly learned that something serious was occurring when it transpired that the Cadet's combadge was in her quarters, but she was not. Despite LT Silvestrie's insistence on overly zealous security measures though, I refused to believe that this could be the result of any Junayd influence. This was the real CDT Tierno who is a beloved member of our family; a bright young girl who is regularly a welcome addition to my own dinner table from the friendship formed with my own daughter. Whilst I commend Silvestrie's vigilance, I could not condone his recommendations on this occasion.
Keliaya & Kazra executed a search through internal sensors and soon discovered anomalous readings from one of the airlocks. While this was going on, T'Quila had been reviewing the recent comms traffic received from home and noted some interesting developments. There had been an unusually high volume marked for the Cadet's attention, including a black-bordered message. Seeing this prompted her to investigate further and she discovered a news article pertaining to a tragic accident at the Mars colony which had resulted in the loss of a number of researchers. I was aware through previous conversations about her family, that CDT Tierno's mother worked at said facility, and we soon pieced things together from there.
The airlock anomaly was confirmed and I hurried down there with Kelly, fearful for the Cadet's wellbeing as this point. When we found an EV suit missing, the search was redirected to the ship's exterior where - thankfully - she was located on a section of the exterior hull. A brief debate on the course of action ensued, and though we were likely able to transport her back I did not want to cause any further distress to the girl. So Kelly and I donned EV suits and went out to confront her directly. Our suspicion as to the course of these events was proved correct after seeing her emotional state, I am simply glad for the moment that we were able to bring her home safely. As to her long term mental health, I know it is a concern for all of us on board and is rapidly turning into a focal point for the seasonal activities.
Our hearts go out to her in this time of tragic loss. The hard part is going to be making her see it and not lose her to remorse...
