Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Moving out of the turbolift, he approaches captain Se'Lai:"Nice to meet you again, captain." Keelah@crystyll smiles back, "You too Captain; glad to have you with us" Eunha@turtles#8407 Glances around deciding which station she wants to claim as hers Eunha@turtles#8407 Goes around testing all the consoles until she finds one she likes Sam@drcrippler sneaks up behind Timo, grabbing both his shoulders Sam@drcrippler: "Boo!" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> Saraswati to Valley Forge. We're ready when you are. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois For a brief moment, he looks surprised by the sudden arrival of someone at his backs. He turns immediately his head behind, and when he sees Bishop he smiles:"Oh, Sam! That was quiet...unexpected. Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 walks in and takes an attentive stance, "Cadet Mitsuki reporting Captain!" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: He then, hearing Draz, turns briefly on Keelah:"Captain, I'm afraid the Ananke will not be here. There've been...developments. I'll oversee from here directly." Keelah@crystyll: "Good to have you here cadet. Ready to put the Forge through her paces? Keelah@crystyll: " Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 clears throat, perhaps a tad nervous, "I am ready to try sir!" Sam@drcrippler: "The Endeavour is ready as back up if needed Captain. I thought I'd lend a hand on the Valley Forge" Eunha@turtles#8407 finally decides on a spot to call her own for ever metaphorically planting her flag Sam@drcrippler Sam steps behind the divider, not at a station but in a place where he can see the proceedings Keelah@crystyll: <C> Saraswati, Endeavour; form up on us. Once under way you'll want to link in via holocomm as we begin trials Eunha@turtles#8407: "Cadet if you would like to take your station." she smiles Eunha@turtles#8407 secretly enjoys giving orders Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 realizes she was just stupidly standing there, "Hai! I mean, yes sir!" Sam@drcrippler: <C> This is the Endeavour, we copy" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 starts to set up the console to her preferred settings Keelah@crystyll: <C> DS13 control; this is the SAR mission reporting ready for departure and requesting clearance to disembark Keliaya@anncarise steps onto the bridge and proceeds to her engineering station. Eunha@turtles#8407 Covers Ops "All decks reporting in ready for departure Captain." she says tapping the station Perim@bobisgod171: <C> DS13 copies, Valley Forge. Permission granted, safe travels. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He quietly observes the operations undergoing on the bridge. Still, a careful observer could note some signs of impatience. Keelah@crystyll: <C> Acknowledged control. All ships; let's go find our people Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 waits for specific orders before flooring it Keliaya@anncarise: "Power distribution optimized for warp travel. Ready to go on your command, captain." Keelah@crystyll: "Cadet Mitsuki; take us out" Eunha@turtles#8407 Familarises her self with Ops this is her first time properly covering it Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 slowly clears the ship, which responds with a bit more vigor than she was expecting of the size, and engages impulse at a safe distance Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: Clear of station Captain, reaching safe warp out range in a few seconds Sam@drcrippler The phantom pain in Sam's leg sears up again and his hand moves towards it. Sam masks his pain by leaning on the console beside him. Draz@HF_Mudd: <FX> Saraswati falls in with Valley Forge, taking the port spot in formation as they move toward the outer marker. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Looking around he notices Sam:"Everything's alright?" Sam@drcrippler Sam gives a nod and a weak smile, an obvious lie Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: We're ready for warp speed on your command Captain. Keelah@crystyll nods, "Let's go find our people then; take us out, Cadet" Keelah@crystyll glances back, "Eunha, once we're underway would you get Captain Draz on the line as we have a lot to prepare" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 sort of furrows her brow, unsure of what speed, but sorta just picks something fast and engages. Keelah@crystyll turns from there to Timo and Sam, "I am counting on the Endeavour to play it's part in these trials as well Captain. We have the duration of this journey to integrate, test and refine our 2492 + Keelah@crystyll: countermeasures" Eunha@turtles#8407 Taps her console setting that up "Comms are ready on your command." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He moves few steps behind, in order to talk with a lower voice:"Why have I the distinct impression there's something wrong?" he asks to Sam, before turning on Keelah:"Captain, as an engineer, if + Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: +"I may be of any assistance, feel free to use me." Sam@drcrippler: "The Endeavour has recently had a systems overhaul and is completley ready, on your command." Keelah@crystyll smiles, "Oh I intend to Captain; with my teams here" Keelah@crystyll: "Put her through Eunha, let's get this confab started" Sam@drcrippler Sam shifts over to the console and sets up a link with the Endeavour Keelah@crystyll wave the Captains over to join her, it's a very lonely command position... Eunha@turtles#8407 Gets Captain Draz on the line Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> Looking good so far, Valley Forge. Sam@drcrippler transfers the console to his PADD and moves to stand behind Keelah Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Moves near Keelah, rescuing her from her loneliness:"I'm pretty confident about the new countermeasures. I took my time looking at the schematics." Keliaya@anncarise slides into a seat as they start the warp journey. Eunha@turtles#8407 Lowkey misses her chair Sam@drcrippler as he passes Timo, he whispers, "I get the same feeling too," Keelah@crystyll: "Excellent" looks between Sam and Draz, "Are the two of you also familiar with our reported findings, or should I start from the top?" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> I've read the summary, but... well, we have some time anyway? Sam@drcrippler: "A brief outline would be useful to get us up to speed" Keliaya@anncarise: "Captain, I can forward the recovered sensor data from the Gainsborough to them if they don't have that already." Keelah@crystyll: "Ok, well in short we have three channels to pursue; tactical analysis, evasive counter and the wormhole theory" Keelah@crystyll: "Given that we are three ships with three criteria to meet, I propose focusing on one core problem each. Captain Draz, Captain Bishop; you know your own crews best. Which of these do you each feel Keelah@crystyll: most suited to?" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Looks at both Sam and Draz, curious to know their answers. Sam@drcrippler: "I can take tactical analysis or evasive counter," Sam replies and looks at Draz Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> We're here to provide the scientific wizardry - countermeasures and long-range, high-resolution sensors. Eunha@turtles#8407 Decides to go for a wander round Eunha@turtles#8407 Slides in next to the cadet "How's it going?" she smiles Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> So, hand us the wormhole problem. Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 looks up and smiles back, "Not bad. Warp travel is both the easiest phase and also most tedious. I have to keep adjusting the hyperspatial geometry vector control values to keep course." Keelah@crystyll nods, "Very well Captain; We will be dropping out of warp at the location where our ships were lost. We know species 2492 opened a wormhole from there. We need a way to follow it" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods to Draz:"I agree with the captain's assessment. The Brigid class new sensors could be incredibly useful." Keelah@crystyll: "My Chief Engineer is at your disposal for this too Captain" Sam@drcrippler Sam looks at Keelah "Which one would you like to look into?" Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods "When I went through my training to become a pilot I would forget to do things like that." she chuckles "I'm Commander Eunbi by the way, Head counsellor and second officer." Keelah@crystyll turns to Sam with a smirk, "How are you with sensor ghosts, Captain?" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 looks to Eunha, "Like what she said about where we are dropping out, the computer can't usually lock that precision in from such a distance, so I do constant corrections to get that exit point" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: You did flight operations training.. as a Counselor? Sam@drcrippler: "I'm sure my crew don't frighten easily so we could take that one," Sam grins Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 quickly realizes her error, "Cadet Mitsuki, nice to meet you sir." and adds in the short bow for good measure Keelah@crystyll chuckles, "Well we need to generate some. Specifically, at least one sensor ghost of an allied ship larger than the Endeavour" Eunha@turtles#8407 Returns the bow since people in Korea bow as well "You don't have to be so professional around me by the way I'm quite laid back." Keelah@crystyll: "Analysis showed us that 2492 priorities threat analysis as a direct correlation of vessel size. Large ghost means priority target... and that means time for us to act" Sam@drcrippler: "Larger than the Endeavour? A challenge but I think we can do it!" Sam replies Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Chuckles hearing Sam:"Well, what about a good old Odyssey? I cannot think about something bigger than that..." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: It's pretty deeply programmed, hehe, and you never know when it crosses the line from assumed allowed to just rude. Eunha@turtles#8407: "I've learnt from my grandmother to be laid back around most people....including admirals." she chuckles Keelah@crystyll: "Very well, as I said we do not have long to implement these measures, or anything else we can think of. and I for one do not intendf to allow 2492 the upper hand again should we encounter them" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: ooh.. I think I need more time in service before I can try that Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Timoreev; how up to speed are you with DS13's research into countermeasure... anything else we can look in to?" Sam@drcrippler Sam starts tapping away at his PADD, giving orders to the Endeavour crew" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> *nods* "Agreed." Eunha@turtles#8407: "That's a good idea." she nods "And to answer your earlier question I took extra courses through my years at the acadmey and after I graduated to become a pilot and gain knowledge in other areas." Keliaya@anncarise joins in, "The sensor ghosts will only buy us so much time, we'll want some kind of defense against the virus as well." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: ahhhh.. that's smart.. Eunha@turtles#8407: "It's always useful to be multi-talented." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "As I said, I gave a look at the schematics. I examined all three main projects, although they don't fall exactly into my field of specialization. Project Udox has particularly taken my attention..." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 taps in a new adjustment, "By now I have our exit point at 55% of ideal. The closer we get, the more accurate I can get it. Anything 85% and up is usually considered on target." Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods in agreement "Very good." Keelah@crystyll: "Udox... what do we know of it so far? If it's something we can put to the test here, then...?" Keliaya@anncarise reviews the Gains sensor info as she keeps an ear out for the conversation behind her. Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> I've already taken the liberty of preparing a firewalled comm relay for Saraswati. From the reports coming out of Udox, it sounded like some of them had similar ideas. Sam@drcrippler: " I wonder if anyone knows how the Cardassians used sensor ghosts in the Cardassian-Klingon war..." Sam asks to nobody in particular Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: Only the best pilots get the accuracy above 95%.. The Sulu and Paris types basically. My goal is to get to that level someday. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "It revolves around new security protocols for our communications, so to neutralize the 2492 malicious code. As you may imagine, to be shileded by it would at least deprive our adversary of a strong + Eunha@turtles#8407: "Hopefully you will, my personal best is 89%." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> If we do encounter these aliens again, this may be the proof of concept... or the trial by fire. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: + "tactical advantage. Unfortunately, I'm not about the actual status of the project at the moment." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: That's impressive considering it wasn't your main duty.. Keelah@crystyll nods and looks to Draz, "You could not be more right Captain; that is why we're pushing every possible advantage." Eunha@turtles#8407: "I suppose. But I mainly hit around 79%-82% now since I don't pilot as much anymore." Eunha@turtles#8407: "My worst piloting moment was when I crash landed a shuttle." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: Warp Flight 103 notes that most missions don't generally require a super accurate landing in realspace.. so the high numbers aren't always a necessity Eunha@turtles#8407: "But it's always nice to hit them." Keelah@crystyll: "Well, we also have our new power shunt protocol on detection of the neutrino buildup from the dreadnaught's primary weapon" Keelah@crystyll: "It's not much, but it should give a ship that fractional improvement to helm response times for evasive manouvres" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "That's a good idea. Can you send us the specifications, so we can implement that as well?" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 winces, "I've only done crashes in simulators so far luckily Keelah@crystyll nods and turns to Kelly, "Lieutenant; please disperse the auxiluary power shunt upgrade to our fellow ships" Eunha@turtles#8407: "In my defence we were getting shot at." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods to Keelah:"Everything which could give us even the slightest advantage is welcome." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: yeah that probably ruins the mood Keliaya@anncarise nods, "On it, ma'am." She leans forward and types on the console. Sam@drcrippler: "We're making some headway on the sensor ghosts Captain," Sam reports. "At the moment, we're using using a lot of power to produce a sensor ghost of a small runabout." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> *smiles* "If there's one thing Saraswati has plenty of, it's aux power." Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Timoreev; one area of study we looked at has yielded frustratingly little..." Eunha@turtles#8407: "Definitley." looks down at the console "How long until we reach our postion?" Keliaya@anncarise: "Relaying specifications...you'll also want to keep plenty of distance so you actually have time to use the engine power." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 casually gestures at the plot rate control guage so Eunha can see they'll arive as soon as they need to Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Copy that." *glances back for confirmation that the transmission was received* Keelah@crystyll: "And that is the penetration of enemy defenses. We are vastly limited in sensor information as we can not even scan beyond their hull, let alone get weapons past it should it come to that" Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods "Cool cool." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods:"Yes, I've noticed that, unfortunately. At the moment, I don't remember what the main proposals were, however..." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "We might have more success in that regard. No guarantees, of course." Keliaya@anncarise: "I'm no tactical specialist, but I still really don't recommend trying to stand and fight it out..." Eunha@turtles#8407: "Well i'm going to head back to my station...Call me over if you need anything." Keelah@crystyll: "Agreed. Honestly, I would consider it a huge bonus to any further encounter with 2492 if we could even learn something more about them; get some comprehensive scans" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: Roger, thank you sir Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods Eunha@turtles#8407 Taps her console screen checking all is well with Ops Sam@drcrippler: "Timo?" Sam turns to look at his friend Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "Knowledge is power." he pauses for a moment, reflexively looking at a point on the floor, before being taken out his thoughts by Sam:"Yes?" Sam@drcrippler: "We need to cut the amount of power we're using for the ghost," he says offering the PADD at Timo. "Any ideas?" Keelah@crystyll glances curiously over her shoulder as the PADD passes by, never able to resist engineering challenges Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Think for a moment:"I suppose you already tried to re-distribute the algorythms needed for the ghosts through the computer sub-systems? That way you could use a fraction of each sub-system power..." Keliaya@anncarise tunes the Valley Forge sensors to check for the same information Gainsborough did with the wormholes. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He talks while looking at the PADD attentively Sam@drcrippler: " Yeah we have, the problem is, the ghost doesn't show as anything that even registers as a threat" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Anything else, Captain?" Sam@drcrippler: "+ if we do that" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Still looking at the PADD:"In that case, I see two possible alternatives: diverting auxiliary powers through all involved sub-systems in order to increase their output, or...." Sam@drcrippler: " We need to find a way to distribute the algorithms without spreading them out too far so they still register as a threat." Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Draz; once we arrive, we're relying you to find a way to plot the trajectory of that wormhole. Bishop and I will drop back to secure the area and assist your work as required" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> *nods again* Keliaya@anncarise: "Is there any way to open fire and pin it on the ghost? That could help draw attention to it if we get into a fight..." Sam@drcrippler: "That could work," Sam nods slowly. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "...here it is: maybe it could work better if you use both the auxiliary power idea and a directed emission from the deflector. The choice is yours." he smiles at Sam while giving back the PADD. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: He turns on Keelah:"Captain, I'm not sure if this idea has already been proposed but...about the possibility of scanning our enemy, I may have a proposal." Keelah@crystyll looks back to Kelly at her suggestion, then to Sam and Timo for their thoughts on it Keelah@crystyll: "On that; I am all ears" tucks her hair back behind a pointy ear, "...figuratively..." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> *looks attentively to Timoreev also* Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Bishop, perhaps you could review Lieutenant Keliaya's suggestion? Keelah@crystyll sits in the captain's chair. Sam@drcrippler: "If we use Timo's second idea, when we fire on the sensor, the deflector emmission could make it look like the ghost is firing..." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 continues to diddle at her console as the arival time inches forward Keliaya@anncarise: "That's a great idea!" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Smiles at Keelah's joke:"Well, we know for sure that 2492 will hail us at first, in order to spread their virus. This could open a window of opportunity: with our vessels shielded by the new + Sam@drcrippler Sam taps at the PADD and seconds later a response comes back. "It's risky, and we could lose all power on the Endeavour but I think the risk is acceptable." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: + "communication protocols, we could try to hail in remand on their same frequency, using their communication system as a gate to briefly access their ship's systems. Like a sort of microprobe sent + Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: + "through the channel. It'd only last for few seconds maximum, but at least it could provide us with unvaluable data." Sam@drcrippler: "Another problem is that, should this fail, 2492 will most likely judge the Endeavour as the main threat." Keelah@crystyll: "Bare in mind Captain...s, that in the configuration reported by the survivors of the last encounter; the smaller escort only opens comms; and directly with the shep deemed the biggest threat. This Keelah@crystyll: will invariably our sensor ghost at first, meaning we do not have a direct feed into that comm signal" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "That's true, I was forgetting this...detail. But we can resolve the issue easily, if we use a modified probe to produce the ghost, instead of the Endeavour's systems. We'll receive the data from the Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: + "probe. And, even data from small crafts could be more useful than nothing." Keelah@crystyll nods, "All ships should have suitable probes primed for launch. If they drop on us, we may not have the luxury of time to prepare" Keelah@crystyll looks to the front of the bridge, "Cadet; eta to target?" Keliaya@anncarise: "The comm data could be dangerous, if not handled properly. Last time it disabled an entire Odyssey..." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods to Keliaya:"That's why we'll use the new security protocols. And, for better, we'll isolate all data streams coming from probe in a specifically-designed cache." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 I have entry points available in a couple minutes for most accurate, or sooner if you want some more lead time. Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 behinds dialing back field strength, slowing them down but not dropping out to try and hit the exit vector easier Sam@drcrippler: "Captains. Should the sensor ghost fail and 2492 deem the Endeavour the main threat, I would like to have permission to try Timo's suggestion. If anything, you'll get more information from the + Sam@drcrippler: + Endeavour than a probe" Keliaya@anncarise: "That's a good precaution. Don't let their communications through to our ships." Keelah@crystyll: "Bring us on the nose" she smiles, turning to Eunha, "take us to yellow alert once out of warp, Eunha. I'm not taking any chances here" Keelah@crystyll: "Captains; I suggest you also maintain preparedness, and be ready to make a jump to warp on a reverse course at the first sign of trouble" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: To Sam:"We'll use both systems. In a way or another, we'll obtain something." then to Keelah:"With your permission, captain, I could access one of your station in order to implement the necessary + Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: + modifications at once." Eunha@turtles#8407: "Of course." she says setting the ship to yellow alert Keelah@crystyll nods to Timo, "Please do Captain; thank you. We will be arriving momentarily" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 does a final geometry adjustment, alinging the ship's speed and distance to target and aiming for a close as she can get, "Warp out in 5 seconds." she calls and silently counts it down Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 and then cuts the throttle, sending the zip zooming out back into normal space Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He moves to a console behind the captain's chair, immediately accessing the probes computer, implementing the modification he proposed while also creating the special cache for the data. Draz@HF_Mudd leans over, and vanishes from the main viewscreen, replaced by the rainbow streaks of warpflight that shrink back to diamond points in black. Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 glances at the console readout, 84% target accuracy, she smiles, satisfied at that for the first time flying this ship Keelah@crystyll FX | As the ships drop out of warp; they are greeted with the solemn sight of a debris field, all knowing this is the remnants of their fellow starships Keliaya@anncarise scans immediately for signs of enemy ships. Draz@HF_Mudd: <FX> Saraswait scans the field, the (former) wormhole terminus, everything. Eunha@turtles#8407 Also scans but the betazoid way Draz@HF_Mudd: * Sarasawati Sam@drcrippler Upon seeing the debris, Sam's leg flares up again and he involuntarily grabs Keelah's chair to stop himself from falling over Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Still working on the console as quickly as possible, he launches a glance at the viewscreen, sighing at the view Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Draz; I suggest focusing your efforts on determining the flash point for the Gainsborough's core breach. Reports say the wormhole was in close proximity to that" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 deosn't scan anything, but does start plotting impulse flight paths around or through debris Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> (voice only) "Acknowledged. T'Maal?" Keelah@crystyll stands and gestures to her seat, "Please" she smiles Sam@drcrippler Sam is about to sit on the floor when he notices Keelah get up Sam@drcrippler: "I can't take your chair Keelah..." Sam begins to say" Eunha@turtles#8407 Keeps an eye on Ops and every now and then looks up and the debris Keelah@crystyll chuckles, "It's not as if I'm relinquishing command, Captain. It's just a chair. Now please, we need you focused and at your best" Keliaya@anncarise takes a glance at the debris field as well before refocusing, "How's our ghost systems coming along?” Sam@drcrippler Sam then shows Keelah the PADD. "Hope that is a big enough threat for you," he grins, pleased at the work his crew have done. Keelah@crystyll: "Cadeet Mitsuki; bring us out a comfortable distance and maintain a local patrol with the Endeavour" Eunha@turtles#8407 Idly taps the console Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Stops from tipping on the console:"I wish to run a few tests before giving a go to this..." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: Already on it Keliaya@anncarise: "What kind of tests?" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "Well, testing our "little spy", so to say, it's impossible. But at least I wish to see if the cache I've prepared we'll effectively contain an infection. It'd take only few minutes." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: *will Keelah@crystyll smiles quietly to herself, clearly impressed with the cadet's performance so far Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Saraswati to Valley Forge. We're not picking up any signs from that closed wormhole. Of course, having a warp core breach so close probably didn't help matters." Keelah@crystyll looks back to Sam after some time, a little concern written across her face, "Is that better, Captain?" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "We're widening our scan pattern." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He takes the occasion to begin the cache efficiency tests, his eyes focused on the console, waiting for the results. Keelah@crystyll sighs at the news, "Well I suppose a signpost to our missing people would have been too much to ask. We may need to start thinking outside the box..." Keliaya@anncarise stands and gives Timo a nod, "I can have our computer expert create a mock virus with the same spreading mechanisms for live etstting if you need." Sam@drcrippler Sam nods and stands, shaking his leg "I don't think I can dance for a while but I'll manage" he grins Sam@drcrippler: "You may take your seat back Captain." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods to Keliaya, briefly smiling: "That'd help, thanks. Also, we have to be ready to transmit everything to the Endeavour if we're successful, so they'll replicate the whole process." Keelah@crystyll chuckles, "So kind! Do let me know if you require additional rest" Eunha@turtles#8407 Glances to Sam "I'm sure someone down in sickbay could describe you with a painkiller of some kind." Sam@drcrippler: "Thank you, but I think I should be fine Lieutenant Commander," Sam gives a reassuring smile to Eunha Keliaya@anncarise taps her console, "This is Kelly to engineering lab. Mana, could you make a non-lethal approximation of the virus that attacked the Gainsborough for our live testing?" Keelah@crystyll looks to Sam, "If Captin Draz can't find us a bearing to follow in our search..." Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods and goes back to idly tapping Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 has the ship on a steady trajectory, decides to toss in a quick roll for amusement without altering course Keliaya@anncarise listens to the other end of the dialogue from her console, inaudible to everyone else before looking back to Timo, "They're on it. Shouldn't take too long." Sam@drcrippler: "I suppose we'll have to search sector by sector" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods:"Perfect." Keelah@crystyll: "Do you have anyone on board the Endeavour with suitable expertise to assist Captain Draz?" Sam@drcrippler: "I can try and use the Endeavour's sensors too..." Sam begins Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Draz; the Endeavour and Valley Forge are at your disposal, anything you require of us to increase our chances; just say the word" Keliaya@anncarise: "Captain, I can have our sensors looking for wormholes as well in the maentime, if that'll help." Sam@drcrippler: "What would happen if the Endeavour mimicked a core breach? Could you then take away all of the readings from the Endeavour's fake breach and see what we're left with?" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois Receiving the fake virus, he now works on the test, waiting for the much hoped-for results. Draz@HF_Mudd: "... I don't think that would be very helpful. But keep thinking of things." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> Keelah@crystyll gives a nod of approval to Kelly Keliaya@anncarise nods back and turns to the console to work the Forge's sensors. Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> The more eyes on this, the better. And if we do find anything, a wide baseline, with all three starships acting as observing platforms, could help us determine a vector much better than just one. Sam@drcrippler: "Timo, how did we find the wormhole at K-1406?" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: He raises his eyes from the console at once:"In truth, if I remember well, it was more like the wormhole finding us..." Keelah@crystyll nods, "Helm; get us in position for a triangulation with all three ships. Use the Gainsborough core breach as a centre point" Sam@drcrippler: "Do you think we could try searching for similar forms of radiation, it would help?" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 works on moving to that point and creating an equidistant ephemeris for their movement in space around the target point Keliaya@anncarise turns abck to Timo, "The test virus is compiled and ready. Would you like us to send it to the probe?" Keelah@crystyll: "Captain Draz; I propose we go one better and actually form a sensor net using all three vessels. If we tie our sensor feeds directly in to you, do you think that will increase our chances?" Sam@drcrippler: <C> Bishop to Endeavour. Alfred, can you send us the data from K-1406?" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Turns on Kelaya:"The virus is not for the probe, but for our caches on board. The probe will only relay data." Sam@drcrippler Sam's PADD makes a small sound and Sam stands ready to use the data if needed. Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Certainly." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "T'Maal, make it so." Keliaya@anncarise: "Right, we'll bypass that and send it directly then, whenever you're ready." Keelah@crystyll turns to Sam, "Captain, can you have the Endeavour set in position for this with us and advise Captain Draz when we can proceed?" Sam@drcrippler Sam nods and taps at his PADD. A minute later, Sam taps his combadge Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods:"At your pleasure." Sam@drcrippler: <C> Captain Draz, the Endeavour is in place and is awaiting your command" Keliaya@anncarise: "Alright, sending now..." she taps the command. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois He turns onthe console again, waiting for the results. Keelah@crystyll: "We are also in position Captain. Ready to activate the net on your mark" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Initializing network... now." Keelah@crystyll glances back, "Eunha, see to it that all required processing is maintained for the sensor net. And yes, that means kicking people out the holodeck if needed" Keliaya@anncarise chuckles at Keelah's comment and turns back to Timo, "Any success with virus defense?" Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods "If I get any angry notes about being kicked out the holodeck i'll send them your way." she chuckles Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "Apparently, the cache holds." he turns on Keelah and Sam:"We can transmit all data to the Endeavour, so they could replicate everything and proceed." Eunha@turtles#8407 Nods "If I get any angry notes about being kicked out the holodeck i'll send them your way." she chuckles Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "Apparently, the cache holds." he turns on Keelah and Sam:"We can transmit all data to the Endeavour, so they could replicate everything and proceed." Sam@drcrippler Sam nods, looking at Keelah for permission Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "... there it is." Keelah@crystyll: "By all means Captain, if your test is proving successful then let us roll it out and add it to the list of countermeasures. Good work, both of you" Keliaya@anncarise: "Excellent! That's one shield in place." Keelah@crystyll reviews the sensor net feed, "Yes... I see it here too Captain, not much but this spot was definitely the focal point of an aperture at some time" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Focus sensors on those coordinates. Let's try to plot the exit point." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "Well, more than about a shield more, I'm more curious to know if we can retrieve some data about 2492..." Keelah@crystyll: "Acknowledged Captain. We're narrowing our scan frequencies in sync with yours" Keliaya@anncarise nods, "That's one thing we're certainly lacking in." Keliaya@anncarise slides back into her chair and resumes focus on her console. Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois With his work at the console finished, he resumes his previous position at Keelah's side. Keelah@crystyll looks to Timo with a smile, "Nice work there Captain. We can only hope it stands up so well against the real thing... should the need ever arise" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Smiles:"Thank you. I don't relly wish to meet 2492 but...at least, it could be an opportunity to finally learn something about them." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "It's no good... time and the core explosion have scattered things too much. We'll have to give dead reckoning a shot." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Plotting a line from the core breach to the former aperture. And from what the witnesses said..." Draz@HF_Mudd: <FX> After a few more seconds, a cone appears on the tactical plot, with its apex at Gainsborough's end. Keelah@crystyll nods along slowly, "...how the dreadnaught passed by the Gainsborough as it breached, then entered it's wormhole. That's it!" Sam@drcrippler: "Nice one!" Sam smiles Keelah@crystyll: "It's..." she tilts her head, "...a little big of a search area than I'd like, but I guess we have at least ruled out most of the galaxy..." Sam@drcrippler Sam puts a hand on Keelah's chair and says calmly "It's a start. A lead." Keelah@crystyll draws a deep breath, "That it is. But talk about a needle in a haystack..." Sam@drcrippler: Sam raises his eyebrow. "The best way to find a needle in a haystack is with a magnet. We just need a magnet here." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Oh, the far end of that cone of possibilities is a /lot/ bigger than a haystack. However..." Keelah@crystyll: "We do not a magnet. But we do have probes..." Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "We already have two in the tubes. Let's see if we can start narrowing that cone a bit." Keelah@crystyll: "Captains; given that the plotted region is completely uncharted; I request we pool resources to span that entire search area with long range probes" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Agreed." Sam@drcrippler: "Agreed. The Endeavour is preparing to launch the probes as we speak." Keelah@crystyll: "Very well; plot your trajectories for the outer ring of the search area - at the widest point - We will split the area and cover it is widely as we can between all the collective probes we can carry" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "How much time do you believe it'll take to chart the whole area?" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 things it could take days to weeks but it isn't her place to say right now Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446: thinks*)) Keelah@crystyll: "Longer than we can afford to wait here Captain, but I will drop a relay buoy here and as the probe data filters back, we shall begin charting systems and searching for likely planets to find survivor Keelah@crystyll: s Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Sounds like a plan. A good one." Keelah@crystyll: "Alright, launch when ready. Once all are away... we should return to base. This is not a search that can be completed overnight" Sam@drcrippler: "It's a start. And we're a step closer to finding our friends." Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: Nods:"We'll bring more resources to the effort, then. I'm sure both Libra and Gemini squadrons could further help us." Keelah@crystyll smiles at the thought of both her current and former squadron teaming up for the gargantuan task ahead Blarg@bobisgod171 seems disappointed that there was nothing to shoot. Keelah@crystyll glances back, "Eunha, let's get our probes underway" Eunha@turtles#8407 Sends out the probes Sam@drcrippler The Endeavour lanches her probes Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "And I'll talk to Captain Desimone, see if any ships from Aries can be tasked to assist." Keelah@crystyll: "The more the merrier, Captain" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "... any /other/ ships from Aries." Keelah@crystyll: "That should be the last of the probes. Now for the waiting game... Helm; take us home" Andrej Timoreev@chrisdubois: "That would much appreciated, captain." he nods toward Draz's image. Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 perks up, "My dad's ship is in Aries, he'd probably help!" Draz@HF_Mudd: <C> "Coming about, ready to go to warp on your mark." Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 as she spoke she had begun plotting a home course, "Ready to engage sir" Keelah@crystyll nods, "All ships; engage" Rumiho Mitsuki@yf47dex#9446 flips the switch and lauches the ship into warp

LOCATION: Debris Field, Alpha-7192 Sector

MISSION: Search and rescue for missing Gainsborough crew and development of countermeasures against Species 2492

OUTCOME: Approximate bearing for location of missing crew established. Several countermeasures successfully tested and ready for usage in next encounter with Species 2492.

KEY PERSONNEL:

CAPT Se’Lai CAPT Timoreev CAPT Draz CAPT Bishop LTDR Eunbi LT Keliaya SGT Blarg CDT Rumiho

NARRATIVE: USS Valley Forge, Endeavour & Saraswati departed DS13 during Beta shift to commence SAR [search and rescue] operations for the missing Gainsborough personnel. While en route, numerous 2492 countermeasures were trialled and implemented across all ships. This most notably saw an expansion on the previously postulated theory of using a sensor ghost vessel by including a probe launched alongside the sensor ghost to receive telemetry from the 2492 viral communications - a theory put forth by Captain Timoreev and tested with the aid of Lieutenant Keliaya. Tests were successfully conducted with a faux virus compiled on board by Mana, which saw it contained with a secure cache following interception by the probe.

Upon arrival at the debris field, search operations commenced with USS Saraswati taking point on the survey. The flashpoint for the Gainsborough’s core breach was used as a central measure since it was recorded that the 2492 dreadnaught entered it’s wormhole in close proximity to this position. Initial scans were inconclusive and after a number failed attempts to improve results, the ships were redeployed to triangulate a sensor net around the measure point. The coordinated results of the net were able to determine a fixed point at which a wormhole aperture had - at some point recently - been active, though we were unsuccessful in yielding any further bearing from this.

We were however able to interpolate a narrowed search area based on this position and by plotting an approximate flight path from the Gainsborough flashpoint to it. This has narrowed the search area drastically, though it still represents an undesirably large portion of Alpha-7192 sector. Given this result, the decision was taken to canvas the identified search radius with long range probes which should feed back - via a relay buoy dropped at the debris field - astrometric data which we anticipate will form a first step in identifying systems with the potential to house planets capable of sustaining survivors.

RECOMMENDATION:

The procedures for creating sensor ghosts and establishing anti-virus defenses should be counter-analyzed by DS13 personnel and shared with other fleet vessels.

Astrometrics data from the despatched probes should be prioritized for analysis, and additional ships should - ideally - be made available to explore new regions as this data comes in.
