"She came out of the clouds like an arrow, cutting the sky in two. Before we knew it, our planes were nothing but balls of flames hurtling like asteroids towards the sea. And just like that, she disappeared, leaving our convoy exposed to the whim of the enemy. Like a pirate of the sky, she came, she raided, and she left. I realised that I had not managed to breathe during the entire attack. My breath, like our planes, had been caught unawares by her majesty."

After the destruction of the S.S. Caribbean, Captain Henry Hawkins was left without a ship, or the resources required to build a new one. So he stole one. As parts were being shipped for a new Kotor Class Raptor, Henry stole the frame, before anything could be added to it. Using favours, he kitted the ship out, making it smaller, sticking a (stolen) Federation cruiser warp and engine to make it faster, and arming it with whatever he could find. Henry focussed on raw power on the ship, meaning the ship was able to jump in and out of warp at command. This was done by making the frame as light as possible, which meant removing all but the most basic armour. To use up the extra power to prevent the ship from breaking apart in warp, he added an array of weapons and a light shielding system. To utilise the remaining power, he added a (stolen) Romulan interphase cloaking device.

This renders the Skyraider a very agile raider, able to warp into an area, open a barrage of fire, and disappear almost instantly. The downside to this is that the Skyraider is not able to last in a prolonged firefight, with the shields quick to overload and the hull paper thin.

To facilitate the Skyraider's raiding role, her entire third deck has been converted to one large cargo bay. Due to her small size, she is capable of being piloted alone.
