BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Calypso and her twin sister Nesaea Steele, born to Doris and Nereus Steele, were born on the 17th April 2394 on the Island of Gozo in the Maltese archipelago on Earth. They had three older sisters, Ephyra, Thaleia and Lysianassa who were older by 2, 4 and 8 years respectively. The large family spent most of their time on Gozo with semi-regular trips to Greece to visit family and the occasional holiday off-world.
During their childhood, the two of them had their fair share of arguments and fights due to the two of them being mirror images of each other in terms of personalities, this caused regular clashes that the rest of their family grew used to. Despite this, the two of them were still close and would often choose to spend time with each other despite it usually ending in a fight. It wasn't until the two of them were enlisting in Starfleet that their parents found out that they ended up actually having fun during their disagreements.
Calypso pursued a path leading her towards becoming a member of Starfleet Intelligence while Nesaea charged a road leading her to become an Operations officer head-on.
Calypso was noticed early on in her classes when she displayed an ability to make intuitive leaps in logic and put things together by doing this that the rest of her class where struggling to find a link between. One of the SFI analysts stationed at the academy to look out for promising recruits took an interest in Calypso training by providing more challenging tests and exercises for Calypso to her instructors.
Her analytical abilities were deemed to be exceptional, even when compared to species like that Vulcans, who at times struggled to follow illogical jumps in logic. But her most significant shortfall was during her field exercises where she would at times freeze under pressure or fail to react to a changing situation in time.
Because of both of these factors upon her graduation, it was deemed that she would best serve SFI by assignment to as an analyst at one of the regional offices within in the Beta Quadrant office. Following this decision and graduation, she was assigned as a Junior analyst to the Terror, Finance, and Arms Division (T-FAD) of the Beta Quadrant Office.
After serving there for 3 years, she was reassigned to the USS MacAlpine as the Intelligence team aboard the MacAlpine requested a new analyst to support them during their exploration mission, and Calypso fit the requirements.
