BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Alex Tarasenko entered service during the early days of the Klingon War and served in conflicts through much of her career, participating in numerous battles during the Klingon and Iconian Wars. In 2408, Alex killed renowned Dahar Master Mektah in a skirmish on Traelus II, which resulted in the Klingons withdrawing from the planet and henceforth referring to her as ‘Mektah’s Bane.’ She is credited with playing a key role in the evacuation of the U.S.S. Courageous a year later, earning her a promotion to Lieutenant.

Alex is perhaps best known for her actions on Volenta IV during the Iconian War. The Volenta colony was equipped with a planetary defense network due to its proximity to Klingon space, but the grid was disabled by an Iconian viral probe and the Iconians quickly captured the planet. When the Yi Sun-Shin’s task force arrived to assist, they were outnumbered by the Herald forces. Alex led the team that seized the control centre for the defense network, allowing Starfleet to reactivate Volenta’s defenses and drive off the Heralds. For this action, Alex was widely proclaimed the ‘Hero of Volenta’ by the Federation’s media networks.

Following the war, Alex was promoted to Commander and posted to Starfleet Headquarters. However, she was not satisfied with the position and transferred to the U.S.S. Th’rylen, where she served briefly as First Officer before returning to a more familiar role of Security Chief on the U.S.S. Yorktown, then Starbase 84. In 2420, Alex was demoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander for inappropriate use of force on a suspect and reassigned to Deep Space 16.
